Debrief

Posted on Thu Oct 22nd, 2015 @ 12:26am by Commander Bertrand Cuprum & Captain Elijah Michaels & Commander Cor Cordale & Lieutenant Mickey McClane & Lieutenant & Ensign Honey Flanagan

Mission: Commanding the Elements
Location: USS Tesla Conference room

The USS Tesla, Oberth class moved very slowly away from the Helliax system. around her were every shuttle and runabout that she had, just as crammed to capacity as the science vessel. Behind her bridge the commanders of the USS Victory away teams were gathering, along with Counselor Tekar, formerly of Haven colony and Lt Secar, captain of the Tesla.

Elijah had managed to dry himself off following his attempt to reach the Hospital and was relieved that his Crew made it back in once piece.

Antos was not beamed with the others he was beamed directly to sickbay. due to major injuries from the roof collapse. I am not certain if anyone had told the captain yet.

Michelle had made it, though she was rather soaked. It had been one of the most intense storms she'd been through in a while... and hopefully something she wouldn't have to go through again.

"Next time, I'll stick to the sonic shower." Michelle said.

Tag: Bartlett, Cordale, Flanagan, Sinclair.

Secar took his seat a the head of the table as the others were provided with hot beverages and blankets (and in the case of Honey, a heat pack).

The heat pack was embraced, cradled like it were a precious egg. That and the blanket helped to slowly help Honey to warm up again. The xenobiologist slowly started to look more 'there' again, with the life and the spark returning to her eyes.

Cordale accepted a coffee, and had the blanket wrapped around him as he sat down. His fur was matted and had that weird 'spikey' look to it that recently toweled fur could have, while the yellow chrome of his prosthetic limb actually BENEFITED from being power washed by the storm. He gave Honey a look and a smile, though he wished her first encounter with a planet didn't include such an asshole sun. Well, this will just make her second planet all the more memorable.

He looked wet. He looked miserable. He was alive, and he had coffee. These things balanced out.

"While this is my command, I recognise that Cmdr Michaels out ranks me and was placed in command of the evacuation, so I hand over to him to manage the debrief. We are currently trying to contact the Victory, but it seems she is rather busy with another evacuation." Secar said.

The Commander nodded. "Thank you Lieutenant, I can not tell how grateful we are for allowing us to use your Ship." Elijah said with a nod and handshake to the Vulcan Officer. His attention then turned to his Crew who were assembled after the Evacuation. "People, first and foremost I am proud of each and every one of you for the dedication and professionalism you have shown."

To that, Cordale simply raised his mug.

Also remaining silent, Honey merely smiled at the comment from her captain.

"Secondly, I would also like to say that I am sorry......" Elijah commented letting those words hang in the air for a second or two. His eyes veering to his team of Humans, Thux, Betazoids and everything in between. "I let you down on the Planet by not getting to you all......"

Sela raised her mug she was gently nursing. At the moment she just wanted to get to a comms relay and inform D’Annann she was okay. The moment she heard people were dead she'd have begun to panic.

"A wissse man once sssaid, the needsss of the many outweigh the needsss of the few." Honey ventured. "I can't ssspeak for the othersss, but - ... no bad feelingsss from my ssside."

"Commander, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that you did the best you could with what you had." Cordale followed up Honey's sentiment with his own. "We all did our best. That's what you asked of us. Not a single one of us thinks that you 'let us down'." his mood darkened slightly, though. While none of them let the Commander down, there was one in Cor's team that had seemingly personally let the Thux down.

Crewmen Hensley had to voice his opinion. "Unfortunately, there was one who wanted to get us all together. But unfortunately, it cost him his life but the most important thing is we are all together. I know that Lieutenant Mickey McClane is worried about us all. I don't have to be a betazoid to sense it. To Being alive" Donald said as he toasted

And just like that...

"That idiot Lopez threw his life away when he disregarded my opinion, Honey's opinion, YOUR opinion, common sense, and my repeated warnings... to go play outside in the rain in the hopes of dodging fist sized hail for a full day's run. Which considering the storm was about what... ninety minutes out... would mean his chances of success would be higher if he tried to WILL himself to spontaneously appear at his destination." Cordale added to the conversation in a very powerful outburst. His fur was bristling, his eyes narrowed. A few thousand evolutionary steps ago and he'd probably leap across the table and tear someone's throat out. Instead, he threw his words across the table as though they were his arsenal. "Don't you toast to a man who threw the gift of life away. Don't you add him to a conversation about making it and pulling together when all he had to do was wait TEN MORE SOURCE DAMNED minutes and he'd be here, with us. No, put your mug down."

"We celebrate life. We remember the dead. We do not add glamour their parting. If Lopez were here, I'd chew him out for not having the decent sense of self-preservation to stay in a pre-selected bunker when the world was ending simply.... simply BECAUSE! Instead, I have to CHOOSE to either gloss over his blatant disregard for the safety of everyone in that building by potentially breaching the Structural Integrity Field protecting that building to run a day's worth of travel in ninety minutes... and let his family live with the lie that their son wasn't a waste. OR... I get to deliver my report in full to his supervisor and pass that burden onto him, and right now I'm NOT in a very lying and glossing over mood."

Cor calmed down after a few breaths, and a few muttered numbers in Ferengi. A counting exercise. "I... I'm sorry I lost my cool everyone." he apologized, mostly to the Commander, but swept around to meet almost everyone's gaze. "I lost my two brothers, right in front of me. Long time ago but... still, it tears me up to see someone squander their life like that. On top of having it brought up so casually."

"Sorry. I'm good now." he confirmed to the Commander.

Honey gave a soft hiss, cringing a bit when Cordale had his outburst. She didn't say anything, just kinda stared at him, and couldn't help but agree wholeheartedly. That didn't do anything to diminish the storm she was witnessing though. And when Cor had calmed down enough, she simply put a hand on his arm and gave a soft squeeze.

Selar spoke levelly, "I understand that the majority of your crew will be emotionally compromised by the events that transpired on the surface. For now I believe recrimination will be unhelpful, regardless of the severity of the incident. If your Co feels disciplinary actions are necessitated, I am sure they will follow in due course."

A tone in front of him drew his attention momentarily, "It seems, Commander, that your Doctor has recovered consciousness. He is being patch through."

A monitor on one wall lit up with the very drawn face of Dr Antos. He was pale from exhaustion and blood loss, but he was here.

He felt out of place being on a monitor instead of being there in person. "I am here?" came from the medical monitor briefly as it went mute as the other monitor came to life from the victory.

"Indeed," Selar responded. "If you are feeling up to it. If you need to rest, I am sure your Captain can debrief you separately."

"I should be OK yes I am tired but I rather feel or be part of something." Antos comented a bit quieter then to interupt the captain or victory. "Where is everyone?" Antos commented quietly. He looked concerned as he threw off the covers and the monitor went black. Antos got dresses quickly and quietly as the nurse was occupied somewhere else. And left for the memorial and party. He was tired but he knew he could handle this along he did not have to fight with the a Klingon. As he entered the room as he held the wall a moment then he stood up and moved like nothing was wrong.

As he watched the captain Bertrand on the monitor as Selar addressed him.

=^=Captain, I have managed to reach the Victory.=^=

"Patch her through, Ensign," Selar directed.

A second panel lit up showing the bridge of the USS Victory, with Bertrand sitting in the Captain's chair.

"Lt Selar, Commander Michaels," Bertrand said his voice heavy, "I must say I didn't think I was going to get to see you lot again."

First Class officer Allison Ginning, one of the operations officers arrived on the bridge for bridge duty. "Commander Bertrand, Lieutenant McClane is still in the triage with the doctor. So he assigned me to help out on operations till further notice." She said as she took her station.

Elijah let a smallish chuckle cross his lips. "Commander, you know it takes more than rain a wind to get rid of us." He then knew that this time they were lucky and that not all jokes were totally appropriate. "How is the Victory holding up?

Bertrand checked the panel on the side of the Captain's chair, "She's heavy in the water, but I dare say we are lighter on than the Tesla at the moment. I expect I will have her at the Starbase before you arrive."

Antos felt odd feeling from all the crew some were angry to disappointed other had relieve on there minds it was over. No one seemed to notice the doctor in the room. He sighed in disappointment as he took a seat nearby and just listened quietly.
