End of the road

Posted on Wed Jan 11th, 2017 @ 12:28pm by Captain Elijah Michaels & Lieutenant JG Elliot Keller & Warrant Officer Felix Kilvarn & Commander Bertrand Cuprum & Commander Cor Cordale & Lieutenant Sara'draphia T'eseri & Lieutenant Valeria Mordin

Mission: Smoke and Mirrors
Location: Observation Lounge, Deck One
Timeline: Immediately following Return to Sender

Elijah stood at the head of the Table in the Observation Lounge. He had invited Warrant Officer Kilvarn and Ensign Keller to sit in on this one. The Captain looked around at the Staff assembled before him. "I'm not going to lie to you all, the Andrassi situation was a lot more delicate than we anticipated." He nodded towards Bertrand and Cor. "But it's been dealt with and we've left a Bouy in orbit to warn off any potential visitors."

He turned to the Master Display behind them. "Now onto more pressing matters." The Captain displayed a small fleet of Federation Ships and their location. "The Jennarri have been spotted mounting what looks like significant portions of their fleet and Starfleet is concerned about a possible action, so we are to link up with a fleet for a War Games Scenario."

"Mister Kilbane, what's the status of Security and Tactical?" He asked

"Security teams have swept the ship to make sure the Andrassi didn't leave us any surprises Sir. Tactical's showing clear, phaser banks are fully charged, and torpedo tubes are cleared and ready for firing if we need them. I've ordered Security drills for all our teams and also for our 'special guests' who will be arriving soon in the Security department" Kevin answered.

"Understood." He diverted his attention to Cor. "Commander with Mickey still relieved of Duty I'll need you to work with Operations and make sure everything is in working order."

"Nothing like a little on the job training sir." the Thux said with a smirk. Hearing that title... Commander... put a little pride boost right into the ole' Thux'Heart, though he promised himself he wouldn't let it go to his head, "Not about to start letting you down now."

"Doctor, your work over the last few weeks has been exemplary my thanks." Elijah said with a nod. "I'd like you to organise your Sickbay ready for the War Games scenario."

Sara was a little surprised, "I appreciate the thanks captain, but I ask that my staff be given some time to recover. My people have had very little time to rest and I don't believe that they would be able to give their full attention to a training secanrio"

Elijah pondered it for a second. "I'll only grant rest for essential staff, the others will have to wait to fill in their gaps."

Sara thought for a moment that shook her head, "I'm sorry captain, but that's not good enough" she said, looking over at him directly, "as it currently stands, half of my staff are practically surviving off of stimulants in order to stay awake and alert. As Chief of Medicine, I cannot allow this staff to continue to operate as it is. The best I can offer is one quarter of the medical staff full time, the rest require rest and to that end I will be putting them on a rotating schedule of eight hour shifts until they can be properly relieved of duty for a prolonged period"

"If I might offer a suggestion," Bertrand cleared his throat. "The injuries suffered in a simulated battle situation are simulated. crew are alerted at their station that they are injured and must report to sick bay. At that point the medical staff are required to run medical simulations. Obviously these are all best case scenarios and not actual field operations. If we were to ask operations to load the performance evaluations of the last three real encounters into the system and run simulations from those, we would only need a skeleton staff to confirm outcomes, and manage contingencies. It would not be a true test of our medical staff's performance, but it would give them the rest they need."

"Very well." Elijah said to her in response.

Kevin turned to Sara and said "Lieutenant, if it's of any help to you, so to alleviate the current medical staff situation, I do have a minimal pass in secondary medical studies. Once my Security duty shifts are completed, and if the CO approves, I could do a couple of hours in sick bay carrying out minor duties for you and your staff?"

"By all means, just don't let it interfere with your Duties Lieutenant." Elijah said.

"I'll ensure all my duties have been completed first Sir" Kevin assured the Captain.

"Number One, I'd like full reports from every Department including the Marines and Strategic Operations, have the CONN set a course to rendevous with the Fleet."

"Aye, sir. All reports in fifteen minutes," Bert got to his feet waiting to be dismissed.

Elijah looked around. "Alright everyone, gather your staff and began your assignments. Dismissed."
