Agressive negotiations (Backpost)

Posted on Wed Apr 12th, 2017 @ 11:49pm by Lieutenant Sara'draphia T'eseri

Mission: The Trial of Cor Cordale
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Current.

Kevin entered sickbay and looked around to see if anyone was available for a quick check up on a problem he was having with his shoulder. It hadn't felt the same since he'd returned from the colony Andras IV where he'd taken a phaser hit whilst trying to take out the battery converter.

"Hello?" he called "Is anyone here?"

Sitting in her office, Sara was in the middle of a meditation she was using to replenish her energy after a few long shifts. Hearing someone call from outside in the sickbay, she broke her meditation, slipped on her Nissari uniform and walked out to see who was there.

"Ah, hello Lieutenant. What can I do for our Security Chief today?" She asked, half expecting a verbal lashing.

Kevin looked blankly at Sara, and trying to keep the disdain and disgust he felt for one he deemed as a traitor to Starfleet from registering in his voice said, "You Lieutenant, nothing, someone else on duty here who can treat me, I'll discuss why I'm here with them" he finished.

Picking up on his dislike for her through his choice of words, Sara folded her arms across her chest, "I'm sorry, but there's no one else here on duty right now" she said, returning his look with one of her own, "you can either come back later, or you can let me do my job and tell me what I can do for you"

Kevin paused for a moment as he found himself on the horns of a dilemma. His shoulder was causing him some discomfort, yet at the same time, there was also the discomfort he felt being treated by someone he now found difficult to trust. After what seemed like an eternity he finally said "Ok, if there's no-one else available, you'll have to take a look. My shoulders giving me jip more frequently over the last week or so and the pains increasing."

Giving a slight sigh of relief, Sara motioned to one of the biobeds, "please have a seat and I'll see what I can do" she said, trying to keep some kind of bed side manor. Admittedly she'd never treated a paitent that didn't trust her before, generally the fact that she was a doctor put most people at ease.

Kevin took a seat on the bio bed, but stayed sat up.

Picking up a tricorder as she followed Kevin over, Sara pulled out the scanning wand and began looking at the his shoulders, waving the wand between each shoulder. "It would seem that you have some muscle degeneration caused by a directed energy blast. Most likely a phaser" she said, putting the wand away and stepping back from the biobed, giving Kevin some space in hope that might make him feel a little more comfortable. "I can regenerated the missing muscle and tissue, but it will be tender and rather sencitive for at least a week. The alternative is I can perscribe pain inhibitors and allow the injury to heal itself over a period of two to three months"

"Just pump some of that muscle relaxant into me with your hypo then regenerate the muscle and tissue" he said "I don't have two or three months to allow it to heal naturally."

Without giving a responce, Sara set about preparing Kevin's treatment. This was a rather standard procedure, one she had preformed several times on Klingons and a few Humans. However, just to be on the safe side, Sara kept a PADD beside her with the procedure spelt out on it.

As she began her work, Sara chose to try and talk with Kevin, "so, should I expect a similar reception every time you come down here? Or are you willing to talk to me about it?" She said, administering a mild sedative before she began regenerating the muscle.

"I've no idea what you're talking about" Kevin said, closing his eyes as the sedative was administered.

Sara sighed, "are all humans this distrustful? It's a wonder your Federation is able to function" she said, moving on to the next muscle group. Perhaps the Nissari would be better off not making an alliance with these people. Or perhaps it was her perspective of someone who would outlive the grandchildren of everyone on this ship. To the Nissari, many short lived species seem quite child like. Always rushing about and reacting to everything.

"I wonder if it is this distrust that has been the route of many interstellar conflicts" Sara theorised, moving to the interlocking tissue between the muscles and the bone

"Only of people who go against their oaths" Kevin replied to the original question "and the Federation functions just fine when those who take the oath follow it to the best of their ability rather than break it on some wrong ideological grounds. Interstellar conflict happens once every other option has been exhausted doctor. Your latter question there is like me saying to you I wonder if that doctor will treat that patient because they're not of the same species as they are? Would they not treat them simply because they are a doctor and it is their duty to treat the patient in front of them?"

"Anyway" he continued, "if you're done, I need to get back on duty as the Captain has called a Senior Staff meeting."

"Unfortunately, I am almost done" Sara answered, finishing off her last few sweeps over the area. "If you would permit me, I have a serum from my homeworld that will assist in healing your body. I have only ever used it on Nissari before so I'm not sure how effective it would be on Humans, but I am sure that it will help"

"You're the Doctor, doctor" Kevin replied "If you think it'll help" he finished. Laying down after the serum had been given to him, he rested up for a while then decided it was time he got along to the briefing the CO had called. Jumping down off the bed, he staggered slightly, but managed to catch himself "Easy there Kev ma boy!" he said to himself "Don't need any mishaps when you're feeling this sprightly!"

He practically danced out the sickbay doors......
