Hallucinations of Normandy

Posted on Tue Apr 18th, 2017 @ 5:44pm by Captain Elijah Michaels

Mission: The Trial of Cor Cordale
Location: Deck 7 (USS Victory)
Timeline: 13:00 Hours - On route to Niron 5

Elijah opened his eyes. He was on the Bridge but not on the Bridge of Victory. It was the Normandy his very first command. Not many knew about the very first Ship to be commanded by Elijah all they knew was the official records, a Ship with a fine service history throughout the years.

"Attention on Deck!" The Chief of the Boat called out as the doors to the Turbolift opened and Elijah stepped out with two Admirals in front of him. All of the Bridge Crew were in full Dress uniform including Elijah. It dawned on him where he was, it was 2389, 12 months after he had arrived on the Ship. This was the day he was handed Command of the Normandy.

Looking around at the Bridge of the Steamrunner Class Starship he recognised a few of the faces. Stood at Helm was Ensign Saunders, possibly the best helmsman he had ever met to rival that of Ishan Satele.

The gruff looking Efrosian was Lieutenant Commander Kal'Tar Erinak the Chief Medical Officer, he was a renowned Surgeon on his home world but he had a terrible bedside manner. Beside him was Lieutenant Lovek the Vulcan Science Officer.

Elijah knew that the inoculation would induce hallucinations and he was prepared for that but he did not expect to be here. With a glance to the Starboard Side he noticed his old Tactical Officer Lieutenant Duncan Graham, the tough Scotsman who made Bertrand Cuprum look like a pussycat. Behind him was the Chief Engineer Lieutenant Junior Grade Patrick O'Leary he was no Cor Cordale but he knew his stuff.

With a walk down the length of the Bridge they finally came to the Captains Chair. His new XO was stood by her seat. Lieutenant Commander Anya Anderson. She was the old Operations Officer before Elijah convinced her she would make a better XO than an Operations Manager.

A smile pursed across his lips as looked around. It felt good to be back here, even if it was a hallucination. His gaze turned to the Captain. Captain Okan Pendak. He was the Bajoran Captain who recommended Elijah for his job. Pendak had a knack for picking Officers with troubled pasts and turning them into Officers with fantastic reputations. Pendak smiled at Elijah as he came to attention.

"Welcome to the transfer of Command Ceremony." Admiral Percival called as he read off his PADD. "Captain Okan Pendak you are hereby relieved of Command of USS Normandy on this date and transferring Command to Commander Elijah Micheals."

Elijah stepped forward towards Pendak. "I Commander Elijah Michaels take Command of the USS Normandy, and relieve you of duty Sir."

Pendak placed his thumb on the PADD. "Computer transfer Command Codes to Commander Elijah Michaels, authorisation Pendak sierra 270."

=/\= Command Codes transferred. =/\=

"I stand relieved." Pendak said as he gave Elijah one last smile and proceeded to take a step backwards.

Elijah watched as the Captain and the Admirals then proceeded to leave the Bridge. Leaving the Commander to his Command. He remembered how nervous he felt when he went through it.

"Captain....Sir are you alright?" A voice asked him. "Sir?"

Elijah looked around and nobody had said anything to him. But he carried on marvelling at the Bridge of the Normandy. Yet the voice continued. "Captain Michaels? I think we should get him to sickbay he doesn't look well."

"It's a great pleasure to...." He could hear the voice once again as it felt as though somebody was trying to get his attention. ".....Be given command of the Notmandy and with you as my Crew."

The Voices continued as Elijah looked around at what he thought was the Normandy. "We shall strive to make the history books."

As soon as he finished that sentence he could feel things go a little fuzzy and blurred as he found himself slowly regaining his senses. He wasn't on the Normandy anymore but rather on Deck 7 just outside Sickbay.

A young Ensign and a Crewman Apprentice were stood in front of him. "Captain Michaels?"

"Yes...Yes Ensign?" He asked as he turned his attention to the young Woman. "Is there something wrong?"

The young Trill looked a little startled. "You left Sickbay and then just froze suddenly Sir, we were about to get the Doctor but you had slowly began to move."

Elijah nodded. "I assure you I am perfectly well thank you Ensign but I appreciate your concern." The Captain smiled back at her and the Crewman. "Now As you were."

The pair of young Crewmembers nodded as they carried on before a final glance towards the Captain.

Elijah stood in the hall of deck 7 and took a moment to regain his senses. For just a moment it felt as though he was on the Normandy all those years ago. He just hoped that the side effects from the inoculation were short he didn't wasn't to imagine what would come next.
