Mission: Debts to be settled......
Location: USS Victory

-----------------------
The USS Victory had arrived at Valetaan ahead of Schedule. To her Crew it was a simple supply run, deliver the items to the Researchers and then continue with their Exploration Mission of the Surrounding sector. A remote place like this was easy to miss unless you knew what you were looking for.

"Helm, take us into Orbit of Voletaan Two." Elijah said as he looked towards the Conn.

The helmswoman attracted a few glances, as people made the adjustment to her appearance. She actually looked normal, now. She wore the standard elective feminine fleet uniform. Her hair was tied back into a pony tail, then braided and coiled up against the back of her head. The odd makeup was gone, too. She even behaved normally, only occasionally making subaudible vocalizations. "Entering standard planetary orbit, Commander."

The Commander looked at Bertrand. "Bertand open hailing frequencies, Command says that is the only way to contact them directly due to the interference." Elijah sat back in his Seat. He understood the importance of such an Anomaly, but also the downside to such a thing.

The Victory moved into her Orbit above the Planet, the Sovereign Class Ship looked like a sight to behold as she began to go with the direction of Voletaan Two.

"Such a sight." Valeria commented softly as she took in the scene of the planet. The roil and spin of the atmosphere made the whole thing seem alive. "I can't even imagine what the surface must be like beneath that." she mused idly, taking a few images of the planet for her personal collection.

Moriloth stared at the dynamic, remembering her own eco-hostile homeworld. Her voice was quiet, "Does the planet even want us here?"

Mickey recieved word on the transporters. "All cargo and personal are ready for transport, on your command, Captain." Mickey said of his report.

"We will see what Comms and Sensors say first Lieutenant." Elijah said to Mickey.

Bertrand was frowning furiously, "Sensors are dead. I can't see a thing on the surface. Some sort of broadband electro-magnetic resonance. Should be some wicked thunderstorms down there. Science, can you clean that up at all?"

Valeria made a face, something displeased her momentarily but it washed away after a beat. To his request, she complied. "I'll apply some filters to see if that can wash out the El'Mag background radiation." having been passively scanning the atmosphere out of a form of scientific admiration, she had a few basic readings. "That should even out the low-band el'mag, though expect a few spikes with lightning buildup. I'll try to account for any bolts provided I can anticipate them. Try your scan again, setting two delta six." a pause, "And narrow your sensor sweep band. You may get better results with a narrower approach."

He switched to the Comms, "I have a link, but the responder is scattered. I think it's them."

"This Commander Michaels of the USS Victory, Outpost Victor are receiving?" The Commander asked but to no avail. The Comm was dead and there was no response. "Outpost Victor please respond." Elijah sighed. "Any luck with my Sensors?"

"Short of moving the outpost to a new planet.." she started with a smirk, "If the filters are not sufficient, I suggest deploying a trio of sensor buoys to get more detailed readings of the atmospheric conditions on a moment to moment basis. Once we have a predictive model of interference, we can then reconfigure the buoys to act as transmission points, rebroadcasting our messages to the outpost below."

"As an alternative, we can give the hulls of those trio of buoys a matching electrical potential as the atmosphere and a non-opposed magnetic charge. We then lower them into the atmosphere and they'll create a possible hole in the interference, as the similar polarity will repel any magnetic interference, and giving the buoys the same electrical potential will prevent lightning strikes or other electrical interference." a pause in her explanation. "The only drawback to that plan is any buoys we use in that endeavor will be lost and all but unrecoverable."

"That could take too long." Elijah said to her. "Comms should not be affected only sensors according to Starfleet Command." The Commander got up from his Chair and looked around. "Is there a possibility it maybe something with the Outpost and not the Planet itself?"

Moriloth looked around, then offered, "Commander, let me pilot a Danube runabout down to the planet. It has strong engines and good shielding. We could carry a boosted subspace transmitter or digital telegraph. Both are immune to electromagnetic jamming."

"I would recommend against any Transporter activity until we are certain we can maintain a lock." Bertrand injected. "Whatever is wrong with the Comms is not due the atmosphere, certainly; at least not directly. It may be that bad weather has damaged their power supply, comms array, or some other equipment. It may be something more sinister though. I would recomend and away team including engineer, Medic and security to accompany Ensign Moriloth."

He glanced just next to Moriloth, "Yes, I am sure you are all capable on your own, but there is strength in numbers at least."

Elijah nodded and got up from his Seat. "Very well then Bertrand, Moriloth, Valeria and Cor." The Commander smirked and looked around. "Meet me in the Shuttlebay in 20 minutes."

Bertrand glanced at Bartlett, "With respect sir, I cannot confirm the area is secure. Starfleet regulations are quite clear that your own presence should be avoided."

"Agreed, requesting permission to send Ensign Aladdin on the away team. I can monitor from up here on his doggy collar it has a built in communicator and camera" Mickey turned around and spoke his opinion and looked at Cuprum.

Bertrand rolled his eyes, "You don't need a Security officer on the away team, you need a zoo keeper."

Having said that he secured his station to pass to the security ensign on standby and moved to the Turbo lift.

Regulations or not, Valeria was practically on the move. "Shuttlebay, 20 minutes. Yes sir." while over the comm, the Thux in Engineering gave his acknowledgement. "On the move, see you in twenty."

In the Engineering bay, Cordale packed up his EVA suit and snagged up a small set of standard tools. He turned to Chandler and gave a nod, "You're in charge until I get back. Off to earn the check." and he padded his way towards the Shuttlebay.

"I am saying sorry to Aladdin, sorry Mickey but I need you and the dog here to monitor the Away Team." Elijah said to his Ops Officer. "And I will inform you all I was a Security Officer before I became a Captain." He said with a smirk as he followed suite to the Lift. "Michelle you have the Bridge."

"Aye, Sir." Mickey nodded.

"Aye, sir." Michelle replied.
