New Faces in Victory

Mission: Shoreleave and Repairs

ON:

As the new Chief Science Officer, and part of the senior staff, Wyatt had a very important task before embarking on his newest journey. It was to meet the man he would serve under. This, at least in his opinion, served two purposes. The first was to get a good idea of what the man would be like, second, it was his own chance to make a good first impression. His Starfleet record spoke for itself, but Wyatt was more then his Starfleet record.

Except there was a problem. He couldn't find the captain. It took the better part of a few minutes to find the man, and that man happened to be on the starbase. A very large starbase. He eventually found the captain in a lounge, by the looks of uniforms, and pips on collars, it was an officers lounge. He gazed around the room and zeroed in on his target. He moved through the throng of people and made his way up a couple of steps to a seating area with a awesome view of the expansive view of space.

Once at the table that the captain occupied, he cleared his throat, and said, "May I join you, Captain."

Elijah looked up from his PADD and smiled. "Please be my guest." He said motioning to the vacant seat opposite him. "We have not been properly introduced have we Lieutenant?" He asked.

Giving a slight nod, Wyatt pulled out the offered chair and slid into it. "Wyatt Cadwell," he said as he settled into the chair. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."

Elijah nodded. "Thank you, are you settling in okay Lieutenant?" The Commander asked looking at the Science Officer. "Because you could have just come up to my Ready Room once you were all set."

"I am," Wyatt said. He traveled light, it would never take him anything to get truly settled. He would settle into his job once the Victor was underway again. At the mention of the ready room, he felt a pang of guilt of interrupting the captain. "Would your prefer that I set up a time to meet in your ready room. I certainly want to intrude."

Elijah shook his head. "No here is fine, I am thinking more towards your own personal convience." The Commander said before quickly changing something on his PADD. "Ah yes here we are, your record is fairly straightforward Mr Cadwell."

One corner of Wyatt's lips quirked up at that. "I guess you could say I'm a straight forward kind of guy, sir." It was true of course, he did everything he was supposed to, he took his job seriously, and he really didn't make waves. His mothers were instrumental in molding him into the man he was currently sitting in front of the CO. "I'm here to do my job, and to be sure to give you my very best."

The Commander nodded. "I fully understand, that is all I expect from my Crew." Elijah scrolled through his PADD and smiled. "I have updated the Manifest and recognised your transfer Lieutenant."

Wyatt mirrored the nod and the smile. "Thank you, sir," he said. He was glad everything went smoothly, it wasn't always the case when transfers happened. The man who sat across from him seemed like a formidable man, easy going, relaxed, but that didn't say much about how he commanded a starship.

Elijah looked at Wyatt. "Victory is a fine Ship to serve on Mister Caldwell, her history is relatively short but her lineage is well known." The Commander finished up his Salmon Omelette and wiped his mouth. "My Crew are important to me and they always come first." Elijah extended his hand to the Lieutenant and stood up. "Welcome to the USS VIctory, Wyatt Caldwell."

Quick on his feet, Wyatt stood just as his new CO did. He took hold of the offered hand, held it a moment before giving it a firm shake. He withdrew his hand, then said, "Thank you, sir. I look forward to serving with you and the crew." A tight nod followed. He watched the CO take his leave, Wyatt still stood there a moment, deciding what to do next.

He decided to eat, then explore the starbase some more after. He took his seat, and waved over a waiter.
