Diplomatic discussions

Posted on Thu Apr 6th, 2017 @ 7:23pm by Lieutenant JG Elliot Keller & Lieutenant Commander Ziyal Tajor

Mission: All the Kings Men: Wargames
Location: Diplomatic Offices, USS Victory

Keller had sent a Subspace message to his Father and Mother in regards to his time on the Starbase. The Young Diplomat couldn't give away the details since it was all hush hush and such but the message said it was routine R&R and he didn't know when he was going back to Earth.

The Diplomat had spoken with his Department Head and was fiding out information on their endeavour when he heard the door whoosh open.

Ziyal walked into the diplomat's office holding a datapad. She smiled at him, "Lieutenant Keller?" She asked, "I'm Ziyal Tajor, the Victory's new chief of Strategic Operations."

"Ah yes hello." The young man smiled. "Elliot Keller, Lieutenant Junior Grade and Diplomatic Liason Officer." He offered her his hand to shake. "I was told to expect you at some stage."

Ziyal smiled, taking his hand and shaking it with her right hand. When they squeezed, he could feel that her right middle finger was missing. "I was told your the one who can fill me in on the Jennari."

"Yes come, take a seat." He said as he cleared some space for her. "Can I get you anything? Tea? Coffee?"

Ziyal laid her padd on the table Keller went to the replicator. "Coffee, Black. I acquired the taste when I was in the Academy."

He nodded as he replicated her Coffee and himself a cup of Raktajeno. "I've downloaded all the relevant information we have on the Jennarri for our discussion." He said as he handed her her cup. "Not much to go on I'm afraid."

Ziyal took a sip, looking over the files she had been given. "Good, it will be a short summary then." She smiled and then more seriously said, "Reading reports is is one thing, but I want to know your take on them."

Elliot nodded. "They're fanatics for the most part." He said before taking a seat. "They destroyed a Federation Ship that entered their space and almost destroyed us."

Ziyal thought for a moment, "Do we know why?"

He nodded. "They see the Galaxy as a sinful place, all the corruption and greed needs to be purged." Keller said as he scrolled through some information. "They inhabit the Gollum expanse, an uncharted region of the Quadrant and from what little we scanned its vast and the Vulcans knew of them in passing in the 22nd century."

Keller pulled up a star chart. "They disappeared from the Galaxies Political climate for well over 250 years."

Ziyal absorbed the information, drinking the coffee. "So what changed?"

"From what we could make of their texts, they've been watching the Galaxy against the Borg and the Dominion and the dealings with Romulans and Klingons." Keller commented. "They see the Federation as just as corrupt and in need of salvation before it destroys itself."

Ziyal shook her head, "The Dominion war has been over for almost thirty years. If they wanted to hit us while we were weak, they would have done it long before now."

Elliot shrugged. "I guess they see us as vulnerable since Starfleet has decided to focus on Exploration once again but I'm a Diplomatic not a Strategist."

Ziyal smiled at Elliot, "Sorry, figuring out their strategy is probably my job. So lets get back to your job, what is their political structure like?"

Herubbed his eyes. "From little we have seen of them they operate a quasi military and religious hierarchy. A military structure that enforces their will and a religious group that is designed to educate those they feel need of."

Ziyal nodded, "So is religion a tool of the military or the military a tool of the religion? Who holds the power? What do they want?"

"Sadly we don't have enough information for that hypothesis." Elliot said as he sipped his Klingon Coffee. "I'd advise you read through the mission file on our initial encounter, I was on the Bridge when their Flagship arrived bit not there for the meeting."

Ziyal sipped on her coffee. "What happened? Not just what you put in the report, I can read that later. What were your impressions that might not be strong enough to actually put down?"

"The initial volley took out weapons and shields, the old XO was wounded and the Captain ordered a Collision Course and full evacuation of the Ship." Keller said to her. "Tough bastard planned to get us off and take them with him."

Ziyal nodded, "Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do. I trust that their religious writings have been included in the files?" She asked.

He nodded. "Affirmative, there isn't much to go on that Intelligence and my Department haven't already covered. But their deadline is up and there are numerous reports of Jennarri Ships in the outer colonies and along the frontier."

Ziyal contemplated for a moment, "I'll have to talk to intelligence too then. See what their take on it is."

"I'd say talk to Kilbane and the XO." Keller said to her. "Kilbane was the Intel Officer at the time and the XO was the Tactical Officer."

Ziyal sipped her coffee. "What are your impressions of them?" She said, hiding her nervousness. She was worried about how her meeting with Cuprum might go.

Elliot sipped his coffee and sat back in his Chair. "They're both good at their jobs, Kilbane was a Security Officer then moved to Intel then back to Security." The Diplomat said as he recalled meeting him all that time ago. "The XO? He and the Captain knew each other long before they came aboard, he's a little stubborn and grouchy but he's damn good."

Ziyal took that into consideration. "Thank you," she said softly. "I appreciate the information and the coffee. Hopefully, we'll be able to find a solution to this mess." She said, then added mentally, 'Before the federation gets a rude smack in the nose.'

Keller bowed his head. "You're welcome Lieutenant." He raised his cup. "I shall no doubt see you around."
