Private Debrief

Mission:
Vipers and Scoundrels
Location: Captain's ready room
Smith was used to the glares now, as he crossed the bridge to the Ready Room. Being in SFI was only slightly better than being in internal affairs; neither role won you trust and friendship.
He pressed the chime on the door.
"Enter!" Elijah said as he turned from his Replicator towards the door.
Stepping inside, Smith waited for the doors to close again before speaking, "You wanted to see me before I left, Captain?"
"Ah yes Commander, come on in please." The Captain said as he motioned to the chair in front of his desk. "Can I get you anything?"
Smith considered the chair before accepting the gesture. Unlike many of the crew the Captain had maintained civility at all times, "Thank you, no. I have finalized the transfers of crew, to remove my people from your ship. I notice a few other transfers went through as well. This often happens. Was there something in particular you wanted to see me about, r is this a social event?"
The Captain nodded and proceeded to open one of the drawers in his desk. "I have your new orders." Elijah said to Smith as he took out a PADD. "You are requested at the Archive for some important Cross Department meeting." He then slid it across to the Commander. "Once we arrive at DS9 you are to hitch a rude on the USS Nimitz."
Smith frowned, accepting the PADD. He scanned it and then sighed heavily, "I was expecting this, just hoping I could avoid it somehow. Thank you, Captain. I trust you will have good opportunity to follow up on the leads we collected from the station?"
Elijah nodded. "Yes I can assure you of that." He said before sipping some of his tea and then letting out a soft sigh. "For what it's worth I am grateful to have made your acquaintance Commander."
Smith straightened a little, "Thank you, Captain. I am pleased to say your father expressed a similar sentiment. As you can imagine, Intelligence is not a field that promotes close friendships outside its own cloisters, so I appreciate it whenever I find it."
"I understand you are back to a standard Patrol along the Cardassian border next? I trust it will prove far less complicated than today's task."
Elijah nodded. "DS9 first off to get updated on the happenings in the Bajoran Sector, then on to the Border." The Captain said politely to the Commander. "The Cardassians and the Federation are having a good relationship so we need to keep up appearances."
Smith nodded again, "Understandable. Well, thank you Captain, for your hospitality. I hope we get to work together again, under better circumstances."
He stood up and held out his hand to the captain.
The Captain shook his hand firmly as the two of them parted ways. Somehow it seemed as though this wouldn't be the last meeting between the two.
