Lingering details

Mission: Vipers and Scoundrels
Location: Chief of Secuirty Office

Bertrand winced. He had been told he needed to keep the limb on; that leaving it off would cause issues. He had assumed they were talking about emopitional issues. He hadn't realised the the Nanites would try rebuilding an arm from scratch and reattaching the arm would involve scraping and retraining the interface. He'd need to get to medical and have it done properly.

He threw the limb back onto the counter top with a dull thud, and turned back to the junior officer.

"Go on," he grimaced.

The Security Lieutenant tore his gaze off the artificial limb and back to his PADD, "The... er.. the Cardassian Embassador and his daughter have transfered to the Cardassian ship."

"Good riddance," Bertrand interjected.

"We have a rendesvous with the Tolstoy who have agreed to take Ambassador Collins and his wife as well as the Romulan brothers, That's still about 13 hours away, so I have confined them all to quarters."

"Good man," Bertrand agreed. "I suspect Collins will have a lot of questions to answer when he gets back. Just keep him out of the way of Kevin. We don't need any more political incidents between here and the drop off. Anythign else?"

"We are still waiting for Cordale's report on the Captain's Yacht after clean up, but preliminaries say most damage is repairable."

"All in all, a successful mission," Bertrand allowed. "We rescued the damsels, Stormed the castle, and escaped from pirates."

The Lieutenant grinned, "And earned yourselves some new nicknames in the process."

"Nicknames," Bertrand's customary scowl appeared. "What nicknames?"

The smile vanished from the Lieutenants face, "Oh, er, nothing. No... I... it's just something I heard..."

"What did you hear, Lieutenant?"

"Nothing," the man blustered desperately. "Permission to report back to duty?"

"Dismissed," the Security chief growled, glowering after the young officer's retreating back.

He turned back to his office. His shoulder hurt, his head ached and he could still smell the pirate place even after multiple showers and a complete change of clothes. He would give anything for a drink.

His gaze lingered on his arm. No. Not "anything".

He grabbed it up in his remaining hand and headed for the door. He might as well get to medical now rather than leave it to get worse.
