Getting the A'OK from the CMO, PDQ?

Posted on Sun May 3rd, 2015 @ 2:38pm by Commander Cor Cordale & Lieutenant

Mission: Now Boarding.......
Location: Primary Medical
Timeline: After Captain Sinclair's Physical

Antos finished his report and filed it quickly and efficiently to the proper divisions. As he tapped the desk top com panel. =^= Sickbay to all decks and divisions. All personnel that still need to check-in to the CMO for the physical, and turn in there medical records to the CMO do so ASAP. That is all Dr Riattan out!" as he tapped the channel closed

He truly did not want to do that but nothing will get done if he had to track everyone down to deal with there physical or get there Medical records. Some have arrived by subspace but a lot still are lost without a trace. He quickly sent messages to the Star Fleet medical to find the lost records and have them traced as he closed the channel again.

He moved out to the lobby and noticed it was still empty. He let out a sigh as he went to test the equipment in sickbay and calibrate them as needed till some one arrived.

He didn't have to wait long. Rounding the bend, as it were, was the ship's resident weaselmorph humanoid. Cordale didn't appear winded at all, which either meant he was in good shape, or it wasn't that far of a jog. Maybe both. "Heya, I got the CMO's message on the way. I'd have shown up sooner, but I wanted to... well, engineer really. Make sure the ship was ready." the way he said it, it didn't sound like an excuse.

"Cor Cordale, chief engineer." he offered the gentleman in medical colors his living hand. "It was a male voice on the announcement, so what are the odds that I'm here to see you?"

"Well the odds are pretty good since i am the only medical person here at present." He shook his hand. "Nice to meet you Lieutenant Cor Cordale. Please have a seat over there." pointing to bio bed 6. "I will be with you in a moment. " as he grabbed his tray from bio bed 7. "how are you today?"

"Please, just Cor. I know my name is something of a mouthful." the Thux said with a smirk at Rittan's little joke. He hopped up on the appointed bio bed, and would occasionally fidget while seated. "Well, my left hand feels a bit funny." he said with a smirk, motioning with his prosthetic limb. "Though, on a more serious note I'm feeling pretty good. You know, watching my chocolate intake, keeping a gym regiment..." to be honest his chocolate intake was a little high.

"Well Cor! This is the first time I have had the pleasure of dealing with your species." As he started scanning him as the information started to populate the master display near by. "If i am reading things right your showing normal on screen and compared to your chart there seems nothing to be wrong. How long have you had the prosthetic? " He asked him. "Have you been told that you can possibly have the limb restored with a new genotronic replicator?" He also asked him

Cor actually gave him a smirk, "Lucky you, I've been dealing with the Thux my whole life." he actually chuckled, though the next question he was dreading. "I've had it for..." and he stopped and thought. Honestly thought, then shook his head, "About that long, doc. I've had it for years, and to be honest I've never given thought to a restoration. Most folks ask me if I've thought of an updated model and well... this might sound odd but I have a lot of sentimental value attached to this old museum piece." he said as he flexed the limb to show off that it had exactly as much mobility as a standard limb... which was the entire point of a prosthetic, really.

"Restored? I've never thought of it, but to be honest my first instinct is to decline. Not out of stubborn Thux pride or anything, but two real reasons. First, as I said, sentimental value. Second, do you know how useful it is to have a limb that doesn't feel pain as an engineer? Sure, the newer prosthetic limbs can have their sensation matrix disabled, but there's always the risk of accidental sensation. Which would happen when I'm in the middle of reaching into something painful." he said with a smirk. "The Arctile Seven is old, heavy, and durable as hell. I'm attached to her." a pause, "And I swear to the Source that wasn't a pun when I said it."

"Though, I may ask you to take a look under the hood if she starts to act up. I mean, every now and then I get a phantom pain or a phantom sensation, but I've gotten used to those." Truth was, he welcomed the pain versus the sensation. Sometimes it felt like someone was holding his hand.

"I understand at least you know there is an option." He said with a small smile. I can look over the Prosthetic maybe there is a glitch in the processor or something. As for the phantom pain threes not much i can do on that one." He said with a straight face as he grabbed his tricorder again and focused on the the unit. "It seems to be fine at the moment. If it persists we can work on it to make it more acceptable for you."

Cor gave a nod, "Yeah, that much I know. The whole 'The Nerves still trying to do their job' bit. I read up a little on it when I was told that it had a name." He tried to remain still during the focused exam. "I got it in a mine. Got trapped under a cave in. My brothers got me out of there. One held me down, and the other carved me out with a heat shovel." a pause, "All the booze in the world didn't really dull the pain, but it helped knock me out. I woke up in the mine infirmary, with this. It wasn't the cleanest cut but, it got me loose." Cor was leaving out a lot of the details. Though, that was pretty well and all the jist of it.

"As an Engineer, trust me, I appreciate having options. Thanks for not being the doctor that won't take no for an answer."

"I never try to force anything on a patient." he said with a small smile. "please let me know I can give you a numbing agent for the affected area. that might cut the signal but it might also interfere with the operation of the limb." He looked at the monitor again. "all looks good Lieutenant. your free to go.Nice to meet you Lieutenant."

The Thux gave a serious nod, "I'm not going to be that Thux that says something crazy like 'I need the pain to keep me alive' or something like that. Truth be told, I've gotten use to a certain level of discomfort. If it gets out of my comfort zone, you'll certainly hear about it." and at the mention of him being clear, he waited for the doctor to scoot out of the way so he could slide off the bio bed. "Looking forward to travelling with you, Doctor." he said with a smile (careful not to show teeth) before he headed out.

"Your fine Lieutenant you wont scare me with your smile." He said quickly. noticing he was trying to hold back from him his toothy grin.

"You're a doctor, not a dentist." Cor called over his shoulder with that smirk. "Wanna see my choppers, catch me in the mess hall sometime."
