Meeting the XO and reporting in to security
Posted on Tue May 19th, 2015 @ 9:07pm by Lieutenant Mickey McClane & Commander Bertrand Cuprum
Mission:
Debts to be settled......
Location: Operations office
Timeline: 1 hour before takeoff.
Mickey McClane, the Operations officer had began work flushing the systems for a systems reboot so that way the security officer has full security of the ship. There was one person Mickey had wanted to meet the Executive officer. Though it would be strange for him to summon her to the Operations office.
"Hey Aladdin." Mickey looked at him but Aladdin knew his plan besides he is too meet with the first officer and the holo-recorder is to announce who he belongs too which is on his collar. Aladdin walked up to him and climbed up to his chair looking at him but smiling none the less as he was happy no matter what.
"All right boy." He fed him a doggie treat for being a good dog as he walked to the swishing doors. they opened, and Aladdin looked on his master. "Good luck, Ensign." Mickey smiled as Aladdin began the jog to find the first officer.
Acting Ensign Aladdin, the loyal lab had ran all the way around the decks. He knew all the humans were looking at him, but right now he had no time to waste. if he were to speak he would tell them. "Nothing to see here just an officer doing his job" Thats what he would say.
Later, he arrived at a the turbolift entering the lift with another human he took the deck unknowing it was the same deck were the first officer was. 3 minute later, he arrived on the deck. Aladdin had caught her scent and ran to her quarters. For a five year old dog Aladdin was top notch for his health.
The Ensign arrived at her quarters. He sat down politely on the deck and let out a soft low howl for her to hear.
Michelle looked up at the door. A visitor already? Guess it was to be expected. "Come." Michelle replied.
Aladdin saw the doors open as he walked in. The four legged dog had walked up to the commander as she wasn't looking. Aladdin then spoke to get her attention as he sat down politely waiting for her to turn around.
Michelle turned around. "Well hello there." she said, looking at the dog, then turning to face the officer in front of her. "And hello to you too." she said with a smirk.
"Hello, Lieutenant McClane asks for your presence in his office, Commander." One of the operations officers with ensign Aladdin asked nicely
"Of course." Michelle said. "I needed a word with him anyway."
Meanwhile, in the operations office Mickey was looking at the systems restart. Noting it was at 86 percent he should have it done by the time the ship takes off.
=A= Lieutenant Cuprum, this is Lieutenant McClane. Status report on the computer restart?" Mickey asked him nicely on how his side look
Bertrand was didn't have the same depth of access to watch the rebuild that McClain had, nor would he understand it if he did. He pulled up his screen and began some diagnostics, as well as the specific checks he was watching for.
=A= Looks good so far. Still can't check the buffer logs. Let me know when your done and I'll do my final checks and sign off. =A=
=A= Aye, sir.=A= Mickey said over the com
"Ben, make sure that this wrist video camera goes to security. I want to test this out for Lieutenant Cuprum." Mickey threw the camera to Chief petty officer Myers as he ran to the security office.
Cuprum was actually starting to drift off to sleep, something that rarely happened. He had deciding against unpacking, opting instead for those precious moments of...
The door chime broke his thoughts and brought him awake sharply. Was it any wonder he was always so crotchety?
He crossed to the door and slid it open.
"Yes?" he barked.
"Ahh, Lieutenant. Mr.McClane wanted me to give this to you. It's a wrist camera and it would view everything from the bridge and it has sensor's and a radio to keep in touch if there was ever a moment of an away team mission," Petty officer Myers said to the Chief of Security.
"And it just couldn't WAIT till I was back on duty. Has it been approved for active duty by the Captain? I can see by your face the question has not even been asked. There are regulations about open lines of communication between away teams and the ship. If there is a reason that the good Lieutenant thinks the current methods are insufficient, feel free to raise the issue with the captain and he can hand out the wrist straps to the away team."
Myers was much taken aback but continued with his mesage, "As for the computer purge, you better come with me to the operations office so that way you can have final touches approved with commander Barlett" Ben nodded to him about his work on the fixing of the ship
"This can all happen, and I want to emphasize this, when I am BACK ON DUTY!"
The door slid shut on a startled Myers. Bertrand felt bad for yelling at the young man, but then looked at his room of boxes and realized he would not now be able to get to sleep.
He went to the door again and called after the retreating figure, "Hold on! I'm coming."
"Take your time, Lieutenant!" Myers stopped at a replicator to pour himself and the Lieutenant a cup of coffee.
Bertrand looked at the black coffee and pulled a face, "Unless that is Irish, I won't. Replicators always make it too damn sweet. C'mon, let's get down to Operations and see what needs seeing so desperately."
"Actually, it's replicated for Irish coffee Lieutenant. But your right. Let's get down to operations." Myers said nicely even though he was shaken up he got over it.
The pair moved quickly, despite Bertrand's sour musings over the useless nature of replicated alcohol in over sweet coffee.
Myer's saw the distaste in the coffee for Lieutenant Bertram as he poured in some Tennessee whiskey to get rid of the sweetness.
Bertrand took the profered cup, his eye now much more alive, "You may have just become my new best friend."
"The coffee, not you. You woke me up."
Michelle entered the room, looking around. Seemed like a rather busy place, but then that's exactly as it should be. "You wanted to see me, Mr. McClane?"
"Actually, Commander. I had a feeling I was going to run into you, sir. So I thought maybe instead of being called to you. I thought maybe I'd save you the trip ma'am?" Mickey nodded and went to the replicator. "Coffee?" Mickey asked nicely.
"Sure." Michelle said. "Two cream, two sugars." she said. Though she wasn't much of a coffee person, she could stomach it once in a while and she would hate to have been rude. "Thank you very much."
"I see you met my dog Acting Ensign Aladdin" Mickey nodded as Aladdin walked back to Mickey and sat near him.
Michelle smirked a bit. "I did. He's absolutely adorable." Michelle replied. "How long have you had him?"
"Oh he's 5 years old." Mickey nodded nicely to her.
Cuprum arrived at the door looking more disheveled than usual, if that was possible. He pulled himself up when he saw the XO. "McClane?"
"Ahh, Lieutenant. Good news the computer purge is almost finished, about another minute, and I'll transfer all the data to your office," Mickey said to Bert nicely.
Bertrand blinked twice, then through slightly clenched teeth he managed, "Then why am I in your office?"
"Because, i am assuming officer Myers has told you about my tinker toys." Mickey looked at the lieutenant.
He sighed heavily, "Well, I assume you are telling the Commander here about the new toys you want taken on the away teams?"
"Yes, Commander. I want to use these portable wrist cameras for any away mission. So that way if i am to remain behind i can keep an eye on the away team even if the sensors are down. I just want to make sure that everyone get's back in the ship in one piece i know i still have a lot to learn, but this is something for special emergencies." Mickey replied to both the commander and lieutenant.
Michelle inspected the camera. "Might not be a bad idea. Never know what we're going to end up with down there, and I've a feeling something will hit the proverbial fan. "Feel free to do so. I trust you've made sure they work?" she asked.
"Of course, commander, I even made sure they were field tested as well on the holodeck with the Ensign and Chief Myers. We did a field test on the Genesis planet when she was breaking up." Mickey said nicely.
"Field tested on the Hollo.." Bertrand was agog. "I may weep openly."
"Any testing is better than none. But at least we've confirmed they're fine. Feel free to issue them as you like. We'll be needing them this mission anyway, I suspect."
"Fine," he growled, "I'll issue one unit to a field operative on away teams of scientific, or tactical nature till I am convinced they are an asset. No diplomatic functions though; don't want accusations of spying."
"That's was the plan, Bert, because you never know these days anymore," Mickey smirked and nodded to the commander.
Bertrand's expression darkened, "You may enjoy shortening of your name, Mickey. I do not. Bertrand is a significant name in my culture. Imagine if I went around calling your Abraham Lincoln, Abe."
"Significant name?" Michelle asked. "In what regards?"
Bertrand was confused by the question, "Is it important? He is a famous figure in our literature."
"Actually, Bert i wouldn't mind because Abe is short besides it wouldn't matter to me," Mickey nodded nicely
Bertrand rubbed his eye with his ungloved hand, "Well it matters to me. Are we done here? I appreciate the need for socialization, but I do have other calls on my time before we depart. Good morning, Lt. Good Morning, Commander."
"I will leave you all to it then. Guess we all have a lot to do." Michelle said, a bit put off but that could just be the way he was.
"Of course, the computer perge is done now. So, Bert can do what he does best." Mickey said as the three resumed duty.
