A Thux of Legend.

Mission:
If I told you...
Location: Ready Room, USS Victory
Captain Michaels had been preparing his Mission for SFI but in doing so he did have a more pressing matter to attend to. He skimmed through a Profile on his Computer.
"Lieutenant Cordale, report to my Ready Room." He pressed into the Comm.
Hearing his name over the comm startled the Thux, who jerked up and promptly hit his head on the underside of the Engineering central console. "Owww... damnit..." then he hit his comm badge to reply. "Cordale here, I'm on my way sir." Though on the trip up he'd stop by a replicator alcove for a bag of ice. Old fashioned medicine was the best, really. No bruising or bleeding, just a pain in the head that'd go away in a few minutes. About the time it'd take to get to the Ready Room. He'd have to ditch the bag before getting on the final lift though, which was easy enough when you knew where every single replicator on the ship was.
Up the final lift, and then he stood before the doors to the Ready Room. Breath in, breath out. Breath in, breath out. The Thux took that moment before the door to go through a mental list of everything he'd done in the past forty eight hours........ nope, nothing to be ashamed about. And with that, he raised his mechanical limb to physically knock upon the Ready Room door with a series of four rapid knocks.
"Enter!" Elijah shouted as he looked up from his desk and the Screen.
The door swished open and allowed Cordale entry. He moved with a little spring in his step, but not just out of nerves or out of eagerness. Honestly, the doors on this ship had it out for tails sometimes, and he didn't want to risk getting clipped in front of the captain. That disaster out of the venue, the Thux turned to approach the Captain's desk and stood at attention. "You called for me, sir. How can I help?"
"I have news." The Captain said to him. "You're improperly dressed Cor." Elijah said tossing him a small box.
Uniform? Check. Pants? Please Source PLEASE.... check... okay, this was weird. Cordale caught the tossed box in his living hand, as it was slightly more responsive, and marginally less likely to accidentally crush the box if it were fragile. "News, eh? It's a little out of season for news that concerns tiny boxes." He joked with a smirk before investigating the contents of said box. "So, what news?"
"You got promoted." Elijah chuckled. "Lieutenant Commander Cordale."
Promotion. The word hit the Thux like a ton of bricks. 'Promotion' was a word greatly celebrated by most, and distanced by few. Cordale was kinda stuck in the middle. See, he wouldn't be where he was today without accepting promotions. Though, he wouldn't be where he was today if it weren't for two very specific cases of promotion.
Though, in Starfleet, you don't get to react negatively to something like this, so he gave Elijah a nod as he opened the box to inspect the new pip. "I ... I don't know what to say. Thank you sir." he replied. It was expected. "I'll do you proud, chief." he said after a moment, a little more relaxed then before.
He regained his composure and returned to a semi-attention stance. If Elijah didn't make the move to put the pip on, that'd mean it was Cor's duty to pip himself. Which would be fun, with a hand that was both somewhat magnetic AND had no feeling.
The Captain stood up and smiled. "Well I figured that it was only right, after all I have the only Thux Engineer in Starfleet." Extending his hand out to his Engineer. "Plus you need a little extra bling to go with the Arm....."
Cordale gave a chuckle, "Oh, she blings plenty, just don't give her an honorary rank too, please." he joked. With hardly a fumble, though, he was able to add the pip to his collar. "It's upside down, isn't it?" he joked with a smirk, then the joking side died down.
Only Thux.
The words hit him in the heart, but he didn't show it. "I'm just doing my job, sir. Not my fault if I set the bar a little higher then most." and he gave a smile. "Though, Thux or not, highbar or otherwise... I'll keep making you proud. Or at the very least, you'll never regret having a Thux as an Engineer. That I can promise you."
Elijah smiled. "Good to hear, " He then looked at the Engineer. "Well snap to it and carry on if you will Commander? Don't want you to neglect Engineering so soon after a promotion." He joked with the Thux whom he had come to view as a friend.
To that, Cordale just gave a smirk. "Neglect Engineering? Pshaw, I think I'd chew my own tail off first chief." there was a pause, "Thank you again, sir." this was pretty impressive. It was just about the highest rank the Thux had ever held. What if this kept up? What if he hit Captain, and got his own ship? Not like a dinky shuttle, but an actual SHIP SHIP! With those thoughts firmly wedged in his mind and with his newest pip secured, Cordale gave a snap to, before he took a step back and went to return to Engineering.

With a smile Elijah watched Cor leave. Impressed with his Engineer. "That Thux...."
