Mission Summary
USS Victory is contacted on secure channels by SFI who send them to a remote location on the borders of Breen Space. They are to locate and protect a remote space station, which is a secret research facility for SFI.
On the outside everything looks normal, though no respond to hails and the station is shielded form sensors and transporters. Taking a shuttle down the away team finds signs of fighting (think the opening scenes on the LV486 in Aliens). After a short search they come across a federation officer writhing in pain. as they are approached they are warned off by a second officer. The first leaps to his feet and runs at the away team but is shot by their new friend. A moment later, however the dead crewman gets up again.
The crew are led away from the attacker and take shelter in a nearby room. While the dead man beats at the door the crewman explains that the crew are slowly turning into zombies. He doesn't know why, but he does know that if you cut or disintegrate them they they spew some sort of spore into the air and infect those around. If you try and stun them, beat them, or in any other way subdue them it only works temporarily.
There are pockets of survivors around the station, but no one is sure who is/isn't infected so people tend to stay on their own. He has only taken a risk because the crew are obviously new arrivals.
He will take the crew to the research lab to secure the three containers of R47W that they were researching in exchange for passage off the ship.
The crew make their way to the lab to find three cylinders of R47W, one of which has a leak. It is obvious that whatever has affected this crew was developed by SFI, and there is enough in just one cylinder to infect an entire planet.
Worse still, with this level of infection, the station must be quarantined. No one in or out.
A decision needs to be made, with the Breen on their way, do the crew blow the station, or remain under quarantine? Do they take this dangerous material back to SFI or report it destroyed with the station by 'accident'?
