Medical jp

Mission: If I told you...
Location: Sickbay

Makeing her way down to Sickbay, Satele was heading to get her medical check up out of the way. If there was one thing she didn't miss after leaving starfleet the first time, it was all of this regulations and restrictions. On her own, she could do what she wanted when ever she wanted, but now that she was 'back in the flock' so to speek she had to readapt to Starfleet life.

Entering sickbay, Satele looked around for someone to talk with

Lt Dereing Hood was checking out her medical supplies and rearranging them into a more sensible order so they were easier to access. She was about to sort out her medical trolley when someone walked in to sickbay.

"Hello" she said smiling "Can I help?"

"Hello, I'm Lieutenant Ishan, I need to get my transfer physical done, If you have the time"

"Nice to meet you. I'm Lt Hood." she replied "Now if you'll stand over here and then we can start."

She picked up her tri corder while looking checking Satele out visually first. Her Aura was bright and healthy ....... with no holes or gaps and stood out away from her.

moving over to the indicated spot, Satele stood there in silence while the doctor did her scans

Dr Dee walked around Ishan running her scanner from head to toe and looking at the readouts on the tri corder. A few minutes later she turned it off.

"Apart from the various scars over your body you seem to be in perfect health. I can remove the scar tissue for you if you like, should only take a minute or two."

Satele nodded, "Sure, I would appreciate that"

"It'll take me a few minutes to prepare. Your going to have to remove your tunic and lie on the bio bed. Will that be ok?"

Satele nodded, "sure" she said, Removing her jacket and undershirt and laying down on the biobed

Dee walked over to a drawer and removed a tray she withdrew a fine plain silk covering to reveal a layer of crystals. She ran her hand over them, and felt their energy, they were fully charged.

She pushed her trolley over to Satele who was waiting patiently.

"Close your eyes." Dee told her "I'm going to place some crystals around you to help you relax. You might feel something or nothing at all."

Satele simply nodded and closed her eyes. She wasn't sure how crystals were going to help her relax, but she wasn't a medical expert

She walked around her placing the crystals at various intervals around Satele's form. She could feel the energy surrounding her.

"Are you feeling ok?" Dee asked her

"It's a bit wierd having crystals on my body, but I'm sure they have some purpose" Satele replied, trying to relax. As she did, her mind started to wander into old memories as it usually did. This time, the memory it 'chose' was of when she ran away from home as a teenager and ended up in a strange town.

Dee placed another crystal on Satele's forehead. It was a little sticky as it had been at the bottom of her bag next to a boiled sweet. She cleared a little bit of fluff away from it.

The Dr looked at her patient lying there. Underneath Satele's lids her eyes moved rapidly. She was dreaming.

She recalled the glares and looks of disgust she recieved from the people in the town, which made her feel sick to her stomach. Although no one in the town actually harmed her, Satele's imagination and fear had done the job for them, causing her to be afraid to ask anyone in the town for help.

Dee whispered quietly to Satele whilst at the same time moved her hands gently only inches above the Lt's form. There was a stubborn scar here in her midriff that was refusing treatment. Dee wondered what had happened.

Feeling Dee start to focus in on one specific area, Satele looked down to where she was working and smiled, "oh yea, that. Don't worry if you can't fix it, I'm sure the Orion girl that gave it to me meant it to last" she said with a slight playful smile

Dee moved on to another scar which was easier to heal than the last one. She was almost finished and the scars were healing nicely leaving no visible effect. She wondered what memories the crystals could have triggered in Satele's mind.

"Almost finished," Dee told her "still feel ok?"

Satele simply nodded. She was enjoying old memories of her family farm back on Bajor. Everything was so peaceful back than, not having to worry about any Starfleet responcibilities.

"Finished Satele," Dee told her "only one scar that needs a little more treatment but we can do that in a few days time. There should be no side affects at all and you should feel quite relaxed."

Opening her eyes, Satele looked down at Dee, "so, these crystals, are they telepathic or is it some sort of illusion?"

Dee smiled while removing the crystals from around Satele. She placed them back in their box. She returned the main crystal to her bag.

"No, no illusions and no tricks." she replied "The crystals store energy and when placed around the body a certain way, they can naturally aid healing. In ancient times they were used for many things and can trigger memories, you must have noticed that?"

Satele nodded, "I assume it's uses memory recall to calm patients down and keep them calm during complex operations" She said, looking at the boxes, "in the wrong hands, those crystals could be used for some nasty things"

Dereing didn't mention that she knew all about this. She had been trained in the use of crystals in healing but she also knew that they could be used for other purposes. She kept the master crystal always with her and away from the other ones. This one charged all the other crystals allowing them to focus on the healing, in this case Satele's scars. But the crystals needed to use someone to channel their energy and that was where Dereing came in.

"I wouldn't worry too much about that." replied Dereing walking over to the replicator where she ordered hot water. She made an infusion of tea leaves "Now you're bound to feel a little off kilter because of the treatment and this will help." she passed it to her and made some for herself.

Taking the cup, Satele looked at the liquid inside, "what is it? Some sort of medicine?"

"It's just a herbal tea, mostly chamomile, lemon balm and lavender. I have some honey if you would like it sweet. Though I like it as it is."

Curious, Satele took a tentative sip. She'd never tasted anything like it. Initially, she didn't mind the taist, though it was a little bitter. Taking a larger sip, she put the cup down on a nearby table, "thank you lieutenant, or do you prefer doctor?"

Dee thought about it.She hadn't intended to be a Dr again but the fates proved otherwise. "I suppose Dr Dee is just fine or just Dee if if you would like."

"Very well then, Dr Dee. Is there anything else you need to do? Any other tests?"

"No you're good to go," Dee replied "Any problems just come back and see me."

"Very well than, thank you doctor" Satele said before heading out of sickbay. She had to admit this was one of the more unique check ups she'd had but that wasn't unexpected on a new starship

Dereing watched Satele leave and then 'smudged' the atmosphere in sickbay to clear any leftover energy still lingering there. When that was done she put away the trolley with the unused medical instruments on and sat down at her desk to update her records.

After this she would have something to eat her own energy levels were depleted. and fairly soon she would be running on vapour. She closed down her computer and reached down to pick up a white cat that had suddenly appeared beside her.

"Ah, there you are." she said "I was wondering when you would show up."
