Good to meet you Sir

Posted on Sat Jan 9th, 2016 @ 1:09am by Captain Elijah Michaels

Mission: If I told you...
Location: Captain's ready room

After taking a few wrong turns Dereing Hood finally arrived at her quarters. She didn't think she was entitled to much and would be quite happy with anything as long as there was enough storage.

It was certainly very spacious and much larger than her room at home which was saying something. All her personal stuff would fit in here very nicely indeed. But she wasn't really sure if this was her's it seemed far to much.

She went over to the replicator and ordered coffee hot, strong and sweet. The smell filled her nostrils and the first mouthful ran through her veins like quicksilver. She could never give this up even if she tried.

Dee ran her fingers over the smooth lines of the surfaces, trying not to get used to it because this room couldn't possibly be hers. She resisted the urge to rearrange the furniture into a more minimalist design following the Feng Shui art system of harmonizing and energising the space.

"Lieutenant Hood, report to the Ready Room." A voice said over the Comm.

Dee was so deep in thought that she was startled by the incoming message.

"On my way." she replied

She straightened her uniform, quickly tidied her hair and left her quarters. The doors to the turbo lift opened with a predictable hiss and closed behind her. She tried not to think about the interview that lay ahead of her. The Captain would know if she was either Counselor or Doctor, either way it didn't matter. In the past ships dr's were often counselor's too.

All too soon she arrived on the Bridge. A Starships bridge never failed to surprise her. All that quiet tranquil calm and routine of everyone going about their work belying what really was going on. Dee pulled herself up sharp and refused to dwell on what she was feeling and concentrate on the here and now.

A few heads turned when she stood outside of the Captain's ready room and rang the chimes.

"Enter!" Elijah said with his back to the door.

The door opened and Deering walked in and saw the Captain standing there with his back towards her. she tried not to 'read' his aura though was very tempted to.

"Lt Hood reporting in Captain."

"Ah yes hello please have a seat." Elijah smiled. "Excited with what is to come?"

"I'm looking forward to taking up my post as Chief Councilor Captain."

Elijah looked at her. "A Shrink and Medical Officer?" He chuckled. "Impressive."

"I don't quite understand Sir. I am a Doctor but as for CMO I don't think I'm qualified enough."

"That is strange, your file says you have some training." He said curiously as to the mistake.

Dereing was beginning to think she was on the wrong ship. Her sense of direction can be a little off sometimes but not this off. She was sure that it read Chief Councillor and not Dr.

"My orders Captain..."

"For the moment you will have to double up as the Counselor and as a Medical Doctor." He said with a smile. "With our guests from Intelligence and the reshuffle we are a little light."

I can't do this thought Dereing I can't go back to what it used to be like when.... No good thinking about it now, I have to learn to move on.

"Aye Sir." was her only reply. She was disappointed but tried not to let it show after all he had said it was just for a while.
