Mission:
If I told you...
Location: Bridge, USS Victory
Valeria paused to run another routine sensor sweep of the region. "Captain, no change in nebular density. No change in the station's facing, temperature, or energy state." a smirk, "And I'm not detecting ghosts or other specters either."
Mickey put his brain to use. "Maybe, Lieutenant, there is something else amok. The Away team would report for backup as soon as they could. It's all too quiet." Mickey put in his two cents.
"Isn't there a fable warning about constantly seeking the worst?" Valeria asked.
"There is in Engineering," Prada smirked. "It goes: 'Any one who stays down too long gets lectured by a Thux.'"
Suddenly the panel in front of him beeped, "I am detecting a vessel. One of the runabout is leaving the station and heading this way."
"They're hailing, stand by." Mickey said in short as he got one of his officers to boost the com-link.
=^=Runabout Torrens to USS Victory, come in=^= Satele called, her voice relatively calm, yet still urgent
=A=Runabout Torrens, come in. This is the Victory=A= Mickey answered the call.
=^=I recommend you go to Condition Blue. We've run into something extremely unexpected. I also ask for a medical team to meet us in the shuttlebay=^=
=A= Affirmative, going to condition blue. Stand By, Victory out=A= Mickey ended the call and went to alert condition blue.
"Prada, prepare the shuttlebay for incoming." Mickey ordered the engineering officer.
Prada was all ready initiating the tractor beam guidance system, "All set to recover the Torrens, sir."
Landing the runabout, Satele quickly shut it down but didn't open the doors until she knew the medical staff was ready outside.
A medical emergency team assembled quickly, though they were not sure of the nature of the medical emergency. when Satele finally opened the door a young nurse stepped through. "What is your status ensign?"
"I need you to scan everyone here for anything out of the ordinary, we may have been exposed to some sort of virus that causes zombification" Satele explained quickly, "I also recommend you lock down this shuttlebay until you can confirm if the virus is airborn or not. I also need to speak with the highest ranked officer avalible as soon as we're clear. Sooner if possible"
Mickey on the bridge had a bad feeling something was up, went to the weapons locker and grabbed out the phaser rifles to everyone and type two phasers as well. "Everyone, I know I am getting edgy but please for my sake?" Mickey asked not as being scared but just being precaution as he grabbed a phaser rifle and side phaser.
Valeria all but instinctively shielded herself from the rain of weaponry, but managed to catch the rifle before it fell and, possible, took damage. "Getting edgy?" she questioned while her hands tapped out the unlock for the rifle almost on instinct. She had clearly handled a rifle before.
Elijah looked at Mickey. "Alright, but in future Lieutenant....." The Captain said giving him a look. "I give the orders on this Ship." He said as he examined his Weapon. "Lock down the Shuttlebay and the surrounding Deck." Elijah said pressing some keys. "I want a Marine Team in full Hazmat Gear along with a Medical Team suited up now!"
"Yes, Sir. Sorry sir."Mickey said as he felt better with everyone armed.
Prada returned the Type III and stuck with the hand phaser, "Never learnt how to use one of those. Didn't seem much point. That's what security was for. Besides, I always have this." He waved the credit card sized Type I that was standard issue.
Marines formed up quickly around the Shuttle bay and those inside were scanned.
"It would help," said the Nurse, "If we knew exactly what we were scanning for..."
An uplink was provided between Satele and the Bridge. Prada reported to Elijah, "Ensign Satele wants to talk to you urgently, sir."
"It`s Lieutenant actually," Satele said, before answering the nurse's question, "and I'm not sure what you need to scan for, all I know is the dead were coming back and attacking people and people who are infected aren't effected by medical devices or phasers set below kill."
"So... sorry, Lieutenant," The nurse realised. "I don't know if We are not detecting anything because it is not there, or because we are not looking for the right thing."
"So long as there isn't anything that can threaten the crew" Satele said.
From her station on the Bridge, Valeria began a scan of her own. A full sweep, designed to rule out every possible known contaminant. She wasn't looking for anything they KNEW about, she was looking for any readings that were present, but defied classification. "An ancient philosopher once said that once you remove what you know, all that remains is what you do not know and the void. If that shuttle brought anything back with it, it will trigger the sensors but it will not match anything in our scientific or medical database." the rabbitess explained as she started the scan.
"I believe it is what Terrans refer to as a long shot." she added.
"There is one other saying as well. If you eliminate the impossible whatever remains however improbable must be the truth" Mickey said as he put the phaser in his holster and put the phaser rifle on his shoulder. "The words of Ambassador Spock of course." Mickey threw in his two cents as he went back to sitting down at his station.
"I was unaware Ambassador Spock read Ts'usu philosophy." she added to the pile with a smirk, the scan continuing. She looked up to the Captain for a moment to report on the status of the shuttlebay and the deck in general. "Sir, shuttlebay sealed and isolated. The surrounding deck has been isolated as per standard contagion procedures."
