New Beginings.. Again

Mission:
The Trial of Cor Cordale
Location: Ready Room, USS Victory
After the debriefing with the Admiral and all the heated emotions that where on display AJ headed back to the Victory to see what kind of ship she was. He also started to get his things moved into another new office. After he got tired of unboxing stuff he decided he should check in with his new CO.
Elijah sat behind his desk in his Ready Room reading through the final reports from the situation on the Archive. Shame that it was never going to be published. He heard the chime at his door and looked up. "Enter!"
AJ straightened his uniform and stepped in the office. He made his way over to in front of the Captain's desk. "Captain Michaels I presume?"
He nodded. "You must be Captain Jones?" He said offering his hand.
AJ thought to himself that the Captain was much smaller than he expected. It was still evident that he had been in a scuffle on the archive. "I am, pleasure to meet you sir. I hope you got that shiner looked at." AJ said joking hoping he could break the ice.
"Not yet Captain but I'll get it sorted." He chuckled. "You can be at ease you know Jones? Too much formality...."
"Sorry, my last couple of posts while brief where both very formal COs." he said as he eased up his mood and had a seat in the chair. "Thank you for accepting my transfer to the Victory."
The Captain offered the seat opposite his Desk. "Not a problem, you were vital in taking out the Cosmos and whilst it wasn't the result I wanted it's a result nonetheless." Elijah picked his cup up. "I've been reading your file, you weren't initially assigned to Cosmos where you?"
AJ got comfortable. "No sir, while I am and always be a Marine I have been working for SFI for the last 13+ years. My original assignment this year was on a SFI experimental ship the Guardsman. It had some issues and never launched. So they transferred me to the Cosmos to head up their Marines. As you can see from the file I spent most of those months in the brig." AJ believed in being as open as he could about his past.
"Noted, I'll admit that our Marine Department has become a bit of poisoned chalice, we have great Enslisted Men and Women but Officers are constantly rotating." Elijah said to him.
"I intend to put a stop to that. I am looking for a more stable assignment. And with the war breaking out I am sure you have a need for a stable leader for your greenies." AJ offered his new boss. "You do have some really good enlisted I meet some already and even before that some of your specialist are pretty well known."
"Well it's good to know you intend to stick around." Elijah said to him. "You have Bridge training correct?"
"I have some when I was assigned to the Guardsman it was as Chief Intel Officer and on that ship meant being a major piece on the bridge. So I took the refresher courses as we awaited our departure." He answered.
"Very good." Elijah said as he made some notes on his terminal. "I tend to rely a lot on my Senior Staff and I like them all to have some level of Bridge Training, there are times when I'll need Officers to fill in at a moments notice."
"Speaking of filling in I saw we lost our CIO, just so you know I can help with that until the Fleet gets you a replacement." AJ thought he would throw that out there. "As I stated I have worked with SFI most of my career and have all of my contacts and clearances to help out where needed."
"I shall keep that in mind." Elijah said with a nod. "Lieutenant Kilbane has also offered his services in that area but for the moment I feel both your departments need you."
"Agreed if this goes the way it is headed I will have my hands full." AJ agreed. "Anything else for me, Sir?" AJ wasn't sure what else the Captain wanted to know and he was eager to get to the Marine deck and start working with his men.
"We'll be heading to our next objective this morning, I'd like a full status report by then." Elijah said as he sat back. "But one thing at a time."
"I will have a full combat readiness report on your desk before we shove off." AJ kept it simple.
"In that case Captain you are dismissed." Elijah said with a smile.
The two men rose and shook hands as AJ turned to make his way back to Marine Country to start working with his men.
