Here are the keys

Mission: Now Boarding.......
Location: USS Victory

Elijah had barely been on the Ship a few hours since it had arrived at Starbase 109, and already things were not exactly going smoothly with his new Command. A Sovereign Class was seen a great Command opportunity by any Officer in the Fleet. But there was a catch.....

"Are you serious?" Elijah said as he began to unpack some of his personal items in his Ready Room. His back to a voice that he was having a bit of an argument with. "I'm barely on my new Command and already I have this to deal with?"

"Commander, you know that the Gamma Expeditions have only just recently resumed ." The Voice said as he moved to the Replicator in the corner of the room. "Starfleets main focus is picking up where we left off and with no wars to fight this seems like a good opportunity."

Elijah turned to face his long time friend and mentor Admiral Goddard, the man who took him under his wing following the Madison incident and the subsequent Court martial that followed. "It's a bad idea, Starfleet is over stretching itself with this project." Of all the Officers assigned to the Gamma Quadrant, Elijah was the most vocal against it.

"The tension on the Klingon border is nothing." Tim said before sipping his coffee. "The Romulans and Cardassians are on our side for once and heck the Tholians and the Gorn are open to coexisting.......Why are you so against it?"

"The signal from the Gollum Expanse........" Elijah responded to him. "That is why........"

Goddard looked at Elijah and shook his head once more, surprised to hear him say that. "I thought that was top secret.......How did you find out?"

"I still have friends in the right places, and they tell me that it has Starfleet worried." Elijah responded, noticing the body language of the Admiral change dramatically.

"Yes well when a signal emerges from an area of Space nobody has been to in nearly 250 years......You do start to wonder." Goddard finished his drink from the Replicator and set his cup down onto the desk. "Don't concern yourself with this Elijah." He said once more. "You need to focus on the here and now and ensure Victory fulfils her mission."

"Yes Admiral." The Commander responded, he didn't like it at all but he trusted Tim enough to not argue. "Will there be anything else Admiral?"

Tim handed him a PADD. "Here are your official orders and notification of Command." He then pressed his thumb down. "The keys are all yours."

"Thanks Tim, I'll keep her safe." Elijah smiled before offering his mentor a handshake.

With that being said the two men then parted ways. The Admiral exited the Ready Room leaving Elijah to ponder what was talked about. Was something happening that he shouldn't know about?
