The Briefing - Engineering
Posted on Mon Aug 1st, 2016 @ 9:23pm by Captain Elijah Michaels & Commander Cor Cordale
Mission:
Do Not Follow
Location: Ready Room
After the proverbial smoke cleared, Cordale made his way to the Captain's Ready Room as requested. As far as briefings go, that one could have gone smoother, but at least it wasn't anything he did. Ultimately, that didn't really excuse what happened, but that wasn't his call.
He reached the Ready Room, and rather than his usual knock upon the door, he rang the announcer chime. This called for serious.
"Come in." Elijah said to the doorway.
Cor padded into the room quickly, and stood before the Captain's desk at something approaching attention. Casual, but formal. "I'm here for the Engineering Briefing, sir."
"Pull up a Chair Commander," Elijah motioned to the seat opposite him. "Sorry to pull you away from Enginering."
The Thux took a seat slightly at an angle, as these chairs didn't really accommodate his thick tail. "No worries, the kids are good for a few unsupervised minutes." a chuckle, before he turned slightly more serious, "So, we're pretty much green across the level. If we're heading off into the unknown it could be a while before any resupplies. I'll keep our use of the industrial replicator to a minimum to conserve what we can, but if it gets slim I may just ask if we could find a small'ish asteroid to beam in and replenish the basic stocks."
"So, what do you have for me?"
Elijah shook his head. "Not much Cor." The Captain said honestly to him. "As I said to Valeria, it's an area many have overlooked." Elijah nerd a few key points on his PADD. "Spacial Anomalies are a big factor, dunno if we are gonna run into any and how powerful they might be."
"I'll make sure the shielding on the reactor's a little thicker than usual, and run the crew through a few drills. See if we can get our reactor restart time down to a better rating." Cor suggested. Considering the team he had was already pretty good at bringing a reactor back online...
"I may go have a chat with Miss Valeria about possible magnetic reinforcement, structural integrity heighteners... you know, standard stuff." he smirked.
"That is a good idea, we need systems in place should we run into any problems." Elijah commented to his Engineer.
The Thux gave a grand nod, "I'm personally a huge fan of anything that helps keep me alive." he added a chuckle, "But Engineering is ready for what's ahead. We'll run a full diagnostic on the reactor while we're still in charted space, so there wo..." he paused. Then just shook his head.
"Not gonna say it. Full diagnostic, charted space. End of sentence." The Thux wasn't going to jinx it. "Though, I will recommend sending off a few sensor probes once we get closer to the edge of the map as it were. See if we can at least get some warning before we warp through a black hole or cruise through a spacial compression field. You know, the fun parts of interstellar space." at that, he chuckled.
"I'll forward you the final results of the diagnostic once it's done, along with any recommendations I have based on that. Shouldn't take more than a few hours. I want to be thorough."
The Captain nodded. "Very well, you are dismissed Commander."
