The Briefing - Science

Posted on Mon Aug 1st, 2016 @ 9:22pm by Captain Elijah Michaels & Lieutenant Valeria Mordin

Mission: Do Not Follow
Location: Ready Room

Shameful. Embarrassing. Painful.

Valeria had to borrow a few words from her native tongue to fully evaluate that briefing. It could have gone so much worse, but it still felt harsh to recall it. Once bidden, she dutifully made her way to the Ready Room and gave a tap on the announcer chime, then she'd wait to be allowed to enter.

"Enter!" Elijah shouted to the door.

The rabbitess quickly made her way into the Ready Room with a confident stride. "Valeria Mordin, reporting for Sciences." she announced as the doors slid closed. Were this any other room, she'd be apologizing for the disrespectful behavior. Though, things were different here. She didn't need to apologize for anyone not under her umbrella. Still, lead by example.

"Valeria, here is all the information we were able to get on the Gollum Expanse." The Captain said sliding her a PADD. "Though this is a wild estimate from Starfleet Cartography."

Valeria took the PaDD and gave it a quick skim, "Not a lot to go off of, but we are nothing if not explorers." she said, sounding as cheerful as she could muster after that debacle of a briefing. "I'll contact any cartography labs in the region to see if we can get a little more data before we arrive. I have a feeling that they will be asking for copies of our records upon our return." a pause, "I'll make certain to take very detailed scans."

"It's an area of Space that many have long seen as an afterthought, so whilst it is a Search and Rescue mission, we should try and at least fill in the blanks." Elijah commented to the Science Officer.

Valeria gave a firm nod, "Understood. I'll prioritize accordingly sir." she was silent for a moment, "I'll do everything in my department's power to make this mission a success."

"I have nothing but faith in your abilities." Elijah said with a smile, he always appreciated how well the Lieutenant did her job and remained the calmness under pressure. "Whatever happened to the Seattle, we need to be prepared for every eventuality."

"Sciences will be ready for anything." she declared with a nod, though opted to remain quiet as to what 'every eventuality' actually entailed. From a floating coffin to space dust, they had no idea what condition their missing ship was in.

"If there's nothing more for me, sir, the sooner I begin preparations the sooner they are complete."

Elijah nodded. "That will be all dismissed."
