Clearing any mishaps

Mission: Shoreleave and Repairs
Location: Mickey's quarter's/Captains ready room
Timeline: sometime during the repairs.

Mickey McClane, the operations officer decided that enough was enough. He wanted to get out but he wasn't going to do so yet until he heard from Sela that a meeting would be held in the Captain's ready room, hoping that all would be well. But Mickey knows it wouldn't be too pleasant. In fact, mickey already knows there will be some harsh questions to be answered, at least the acting ensign Aladdin will be there.

"Well, my old friend. There will be some harsh questions i expect and accept it. But hopefully as long as it goes OK i swear i won't pull another damned stunt like that again. I feel bad enough as it is that i almost threw my life away all on a stupid prank. God i swear i won't do another thing like that again." Mickey said to the Acting ensign nicely as he was finishing up eating.

"Mick, don't worry about it right now. I sense there will be a mixture of everything. But i don't think that you won't get that phaser back. Your custom i mean. But right now let's just get through today" Aladdin the talking dog said nicely to his friend as he sat beside him after eating a good meal.

Mickey had grabbed the dog bowls and put them back away in the replicator as he sat down with Aladdin at his chair. Drinking green tea. "Now boy we sit and wait" Mickey said as he rubbed his dog's head and waiting to whomever was going to come for the meeting.

After Antos dealt with his rounds and had a free minute he checked in on Mickey and Aladdin. As he walked up to his door and pressed the chime and waited calmly for a reply.

Aladdin looked at the door. He was happy with excitement. "Hey mick, Antos is here!" Aladdin ran to the door and as soon as the doors opened he gave him some wet slobbery kisses.

Mickey got up and saw what happened and he couldn't help but just laugh.

Antos was now sitting on the floor as Aladdin was Kissing him. "Good to see you too Aladdin!" as he tried to get the words out. As he heard Mickey laughing at him and his new situation. Antos looked up briefly at Mickey. "Thanks Mickey? You want to give me kisses too??" He said with a smile. Not meaning anything by it as he waited to be asked in as he gave Aladdin a pat on the head. Letting out a small laugh after realizing what he had said and the look on Mickeys face was priceless.

Mickey just looked at him funny. He himself couldn't help but laugh and all that. It was nice to keep his spirits up he needed to maintain his positiveness. He then went to the replicator to replicate two green teas, he had finished his old one as he went to grab them. He then looked at antos. standing outside with his dog. "You, coming or what you crazy bastard?" Mickey chuckled but he didn't mean what he said as an insult.

"Yeah come on in!" Aladdin said in short he was excited to see people.

"I think I shall..." looking at both of them a moment before entering. "Thanks"

"I heard from the grapevine Bertrand had been promoted to Lieutenant Commander. No i didn't escape confinement. Aladdin's ear's do more then just frame his face my friend." Mickey smiled as he gave him the tea. "Antos, i was wondering after i get out of confinement, if you would train me to become a field medic. I don't want your job, but it would be nice to have some more experience under my belt my friend" Mickey was dead serious because he wanted to redeem himself for earlier times. He wanted to prove to himself he was a capable officer, and help people, and be better then just an operations officer at least he would have more medical knowledge.

"yea I heard that too!" He said with a sigh. "I was hoping that this confinement bs was going to get taken care of I better go talk to them both right now." Antos stopped and focused on Mickey and Aladdin. "How are you both?" he asked both as he felt things from him and Aladdin. after the question sank in to Antos mind. He cracked another smile as he looked at both of them. "It would be my honor and a Pleasure! Besides your closer to me now then most of the crew is now. After the merging of minds. Your just another brother to me." He smile widened and I got another brother from a hairy mother." He could not resist but to laugh out loud at the comment he just said.

"You Crazy Bastard." Mickey again didn't mean it as an insult. He handed him a green tea. Aladdin spoke while mickey had a drink.

"This crazy fool, he's been all right. I've been keeping him under watch besides, he knows that i will hold him down if he ever tried to escape. But as for me I have been making sure to get my walks with Lieutenant Wakeman. Besides, it's all good down here. Now, i wonder when it's time for Mickey's re-evaluation Antos. I just want to go out and play again." Aladdin said as mickey put his tea down. "Antos, you are a true friend don't ever think anything else" Mickey smiled at him.

"Why all of the colorful language?" Antos commented. "Is there something bothering you?? Theirs nothing to be concerned about I wont hit on you? I know your not that way." Antos commented. "I am glad you are doing such a good job Aladdin. Your just as much a true friend to Mickey. Keep up the good work." Antos commented. " Thank you Mickey you are too! Along with Aladdin! If you guys need anything let me know day or night!"

"Always" Mickey and Aladdin said together

"that's one of the reason I was here to see what was going on with you too and I am going to check on the issue of the confinement. "Who placed the confinement?"Antos asked.

Aladdin had spoken besides Mickey was back to drinking his green tea. Aladdin with his voice box made sure that he would use it whenever he could because he likes the fact he can talk now with all that. "Unfortunately, my good man. Lieutenant JG Wakeman was the one who told us Mickey would be confined until further notice. She even had to confiscate, Mick's rechargeable phaser pack for his custom phaser and sidearm. But we had known it would becoming besides They're aren't taking chances." Aladdin said nicely to the doctor.

"I really would have loved to show you that Phaser, but it's OK i can always rebuild it anyways. But, not that form a different form. When i get the time. I'll go over the technical schematics, to build the 2285 phaser" Mickey said after he finished his green tea.

"You will still have that chance Mickey! Lets go find the counselor and the chief security officer. and deal with you getting back to work."Antos said quickly. The doors opened Shall we!" Antos looked at the security officer watching the doors. "Don't start! He is with me and I will be responsible for him!" Antos commented before the officer spoke a word. "Lets get this crap done!"

"Oh, boy." Mickey said nicely as he went with antos and Aladdin Followed. "Lets go get, my phaser back along with my rechargeable pack. Boy, Antos, Bertrand will be highly pissed off. But, in actuality if you really wanted to you can relieve him for health reason's. Please, don't do anything and shit/face Bertrand. OK?" Mickey said nicely

"Well I am the CMO I do out rank him in health matters I believe you have been cooped up for far to long! Too! The locking people up and forgetting them is done!" Antos said with a determined face. "Plus your not alone and two you are with me. So you are not violating anything." Lets go to the captain first then we can deal with the others." Antos said getting into the lift "Bridge! We can get most of them there on the bridge."Antos said quickly as he watched the others to enter.the doors close as the lift moved to its destination.

Aladdin looked up at Antos then at Mickey. The two of them said this together knowing what they're thinking. "Oh Shit." Mickey couldn't help chuckle.

Antos looked at Aladdin and Mickey for a moment after the small outburst of laughter. "I guess this could be amusing! as he added his laugh to the others. as it got quiet quickly as the lift slowed as the doors opened on to the bridge. As he and the others came around to the front where the captain sat. "can we speak with you in private sir!" Antos said quick as the others stood there quietly.

The captain nodded and listened.

Aladdin picked up the smell of Bertrand. Boy, he knows and he is mad. "Doc, Commander Cuprum is coming and boy is he mad!" Aladdin could sense his anger knowing about Mickey not being in his quarters.

"Let him be mad. I still outrank him in medical matters and the captain here cant even over rule me on that."Antos said flatly.

Bertrand arrived on the bridge. A quick glance around showed him that his quarry was not here but the ensign on tactical nodded towards the ready room.

The door slid open for him and he saw immediately the Co taking his seat as Antos stood arms folded, all defiance. Behind him Mikey and Aladdin stood somewhat cowed by the situation.

Mickey couldn't help his containment as he started laughing. Bertrand recognized it for the tension relief it was and didn't begrudge the man.

"Doctor," Bertrand began carefully, through gritted teeth, "I am given to believe that you have taken this individual into your personal custody? Exactly when were you planning on informing Security of your decision?"

"Yes Sir! I took responsibility of Mr McClane here as I believed he could benefit with some time out of his room and not be confined. Besides I am the CMO here and I have that right to do that especially his morale was in question. Having a friendly ear to talk to always help along with social interaction.Sir."Antos calmly explained to them both the captain and the security chief. "Plus I believe in my Medical opinion Mr Cuprum had went a bit overboard on his confinement. If he was a real threat or danger He would have been confined in the psi ward automatically and not in his quarters under guard majority of the time other when he was actually on duty. sir!."Antos said sincerely to them both.

"Actually, i did agree to confinement. Besides, Doctor. I think it would have been better for me instead of the brig. But, we can settle this in a peaceful moment. I don't want to bring the end of a friendship between the Commander and Lieutenant" Mickey said calmly and politely. Mickey then gave a look to the Commander, but it wasn't a look of insult more of an i'm sorry look for him to understand.

"I know you were voluntary confined Mickey! And you would not have been confined to the brig you would have been sent to the psi-ward for observation and treatment etc." Antos said looking back at Mickey. "Also the issue of you trying to kill yourself would have pulled you from duty for one as well. "But at the time I was the only psychologist on board at the time before our new counselor arrived. They were also informed about the treatment as well. so i dealt with his issues and he is fit for duty and confinement can stop. Plus I sent the reports to the captain on your treatment. unless the computer ate it. what an excuse?!" Antos got quiet.

"Besides, He has been treated by me in that matter.Sir! I know he will still need to see the new counselor too. I have forwarded the procedure details to them and until I here from them.Sir! "Also I do hold a degree in Psychology too. Also For now I am planning on taking on Mr. Mcclane here to medical so he can get familiar with medical layout and procedures in sickbay as I am going to teach him to become a field medic. As He requested me to teach him.sir!" Antos looked at both Mickey and Aladdin. "I will have Aladdin there as well. He could benefit from the training to holding a bandage in place to stop the bleeding for example.Also his keen hearing and smell can also help.Sir!"Antos said with a kind smile.

"I am sorry if you are upset about my decision on taking Mr McClane. or the way i handled it." Looking at Bertrand. "I know what procedures are I was a security officer once. myself." Antos said plainly. "I told the officer he will be in my capable hands and we did not go anywhere off limits to him other then leave his room and come to the bridge to talk to the captain. Unless you think I am unfit?" Antos asked a question to the captain and to Bertrand.

"As Long as he is with a staff officer then I don't see the harm in Mr McClane here doing a few extra things for me. then sitting in his quarters bored to tears.sir! He took a deep breath before continuing. "I would like Mr. McClane's property restored back to him after all is resolved or turned over to me sir! As along as all parties agree with the transfer of ownership. Sir! " Antos said finally as his case was made clear. "Oh! One last thing why is my decisions being questioned? Sir!"Antos asked looking at the captain with a straight face as a final note. "I will take what ever punishment and then I will resign as commission and CMO!"

"Commander Cuprum, you can keep the standard issue phaser, you guys have. I just would like my custom piece and recharge pack back please." He looked at the commander nicely then said a message to his mind to antos. "Sorry, my friend. I hope you don't get into trouble because of me." He looked at his friend with concern.

Antos never looked back but responded in kind. ~Nothing to be sorry about I still believe I am doing the right thing. I would do it all again even resign for my beliefs.~ Antos thought back to Mickey.

Bertrand waited for the tirade to finish. He could feel Antos burning passion for the topic, but rules are rules.

"Mickey is not confined to quarters. He is on suicide watch. Regulation stipulates he should not remain on his own, unmonitored, till a clearance is given by an independent psych evaluation. Unfortunately, since your Brain Bending stunt, you are no longer an independent and impartial judge for him. THAT'S why your judgement is in question. So unless the CO is happy to take the responsibility for his well being on his own person, then he will have to remain under guard till a member of the Starbase Medical facility has been able to give the all clear."

"As for the weapon, Mickey surrendered it voluntarily, and may have it back at any time. It is stored in the armoury, speak to Ensign Kilbane about its return."

"My brain bending stunt as you call it has been used for generations to help restore balance to one psyche and help people return from a mental lapse or trauma that makes ones psyche collapse in on itself. Of course we have thoughts of the other and know there histories better and we betazoids are always have been a close nit species anyway and you know that Bertrand. since you are betazoid yourself. There has never been any or no ill effects from the procedure in known betazoid history. Only know side effects are from Vulcan's attempting to do the procedure. of course there is limited cross with feeling and emotions but that is expected and is documented in the medical archives. And your personal assessment is null and void." Antos said with a straight and calm face. "Please Lets keep the Medical diagnoses to the doctors or medical staff."

"a final note:: I will Resign my commission of this matter.Captain! " Antos said finally. Antos felt another mind touch his briefly but it was familiar just the same. It was like something from his past. as he quickly looked at the door then turned back a bit confused.

Bertrand snorted, "What is this, Kindergarten? The other kids won't play nice so I'm going home?"

"Woah, who said anything about resigning?" Mickey burst in. "Darn it, I did it again. Antos, you're staying until we get back. I'll make the papers to resign starfleet. I am not letting anyone take one for me."

"If you want a fully emotional response I can give one. I have been calm majority of the time and my comment about resignation is not an emotional outburst its a fact and i would appreciate you cutting out your childish comments." Anto calmly commented with no emotion in his voice.

Bertrand gestured to Mickey, "Well, yes I can see how he is a much more stable person and not prone to sudden and emotional responses any more. Perhaps you should make sure the person you want to champion WANTS you to do so first."

Bertrand turned to Mickey, "Mickey, regulations state that until you are deemed fit for duty by an independent medical professional I need to keep you under constant surveillance. Unfortunately, the good Doctor, for all his skills, is emotionally involved; this has become a personal matter for him. However, I have a solution that I think will meet regulations and keep the doctor from throwing his career out an air lock."

Bertrand pulled out one of the remote monitoring cameras that Mickey had designed for away teams.

"With your permission, Captain, I would like to assign Ensign Aladdin to 24hr guard duty of Lt McClane. It will preclude him from other duties, but as he does not seem to be rostered on to any at the moment this should not matter. I will, of course, also clear it with the Head of Operations, who is Mr McClane."

"Oh, and Mickey," Bertrand turned to him again, "It is my Job to take one for the team if necessary. That includes you. You are just going to have to accept that."

"You could have avoided the whole situation if you would have just replied to a simple request. Being open minded. And do what your doing right then instead of now. we would have deflated this issue before we had to pull the captain in on this."Beisdes I am the only Medical officer aboard besides the EMH. not to mention the counselor which I have still have not had the pleasure to meet yet."Antos said calmly to all.

"And waiting to get back to starbase to finally release a confined officer which we all know went through treatment and was cleared with paperwork going to the captain and xo and the yourself and the counselor. Also it was very apparent you were ignoring all communications on this matter. And ignoring me."Antos said calmly with no emotion. "I am not filing any grievance or charges of any kind on this matter on anyone. "I am willing to forget this whole ordeal! Sirs." Antos made sure this was said to make sure all understood and there was no emotional conditions.

" I believe this matter is relatively settled. Unless the captain or xo has something to add. In punishments or such." Antos focused and looked at Bertrand. "I am sorry it had to go this far to get things resolved." Antos said with no emotion in his voice." If you wish to shake hands and move forward that's fine by me. If not I understand I lost a brother and friend." Antoss said for all to here as he casually moved forward a bit and extended his hand sincerely. "I resend my resignation.Captain."

The Commander nodded and looked at Antos. "Now if we can all move on and get on with it that would be good."

"Didn't I just say that??Sir??" Antos looked beyond complex-ed by this. "If there is nothing else May I will leave??Sirs!!" Antos slowly Looking at the captain then the xo then to Bertrand and the others. Before he started moving to the door.

"Now, that that's over with. Aladdin come on it's time to have a party. I am a free man now" With that said mickey had a calm sense of peace in mind he was a free man now it was time to be free and be his own boss again
