Reporting in *Backpost*

Posted on Thu Jan 28th, 2016 @ 6:51pm by Captain Elijah Michaels & Lieutenant Ishan Satele

Mission: If I told you...
Location: Tbd

Elijah had a mammoth task at hand, with their mission already underway he had planning to do and Crew to organise. He had to work out who was reshuffled to accommodate the SFI Contingent and what the next course of action was.

His Desk was filled with PADDs and his Personal Terminal.

Makeing her way up to the CO's office, Satele was heading to report in. She'd just come aboard with the Starfleet Intelligence Contingent with transfer orders assigning her to the Victory. She wasn't particularly looking forward to this meeting, but she was going to do her best to prove herself worthy of this second chance.

Finding her way to the CO's ready room\personal office, Satele tapped the door chime and waited for a responce

"Enter!" Elijah shouted from his Desk.

Takeing a deep breath, Satele opened the doors and walked in, "Captain Michaels, Lieutenant Ishan Satele reporting for duty" she said, handing over her transfer orders from Starfleet Intelligence

Elijah nodded. "Take a seat Lieutenant." He said as he took a PADD from her. "Do you prefer Ishan or Satele?"

"The proper way to adress me is Lieutenant Ishan, but in private I don't mind if others call me Satele"

The Captain nodded in response, respectful of her preference. "Right then Lieutenant Ishan, first of let me say welcome to the Victory." He smiled politely. "We have been without a Full-time Helmsman since Ensign Moriloth departed " He skimmed through the PADD.

"I'm glad I can be of assistance Sir. Though piloting a starship of this size will be very different from what I've been piloting" Satele said, trying not to refer directly to her 'hiatus' from Starfleet.

"Yes I can imagine Buccaneers and Privateers don't have a Sovereign Class Starship at their disposal." Elijah commented to her, in a way that signalled he knew her past but chose not to fully go into detail.

Satele smiled, "no, they don't. But they can get their hands on all sorts of fancy tech that Starfleet Engineers would be impressed by. Sometimes being without regulations and treaties can be quite liberating, but they also give you plenty of time to think on your past actions....my past actions" she said, becoming serious, "I can't change my actions, all I can do is try to make the most of this second chance"

Elijah nodded. "That is a sensible approach to take, after all not everyone gets that chance." He said with a smile. "If you told me that I would one day Command a Starship after going to Prison, I probably would have scoffed at the thought."

Satele was confused, "um, are you going to throw me in the brig?" She asked, taking his words to be about her

"Not at all, I wouldn't have a Flight Controller then would I?" He chuckled.

"Um, no you wouldn't..." Satele said, still confused, but choosing to take it as a bad human joke, "I know this is an odd question, but is there anyone onboard who might have a problem with serving with a cardassian?"

Elijah shook his head. "I doubt it, I am a Dominion War Veteran as is Commander Cuprum and we both understand the circumstances of the Conflict." He said with a nod. "Victory is here for all and diversity is a concept we embrace."

Satele nodded, comforted a little by his words, "Thank you sir, It's not a sentiment I've found a lot of people share. They still blame the Cardassians for what happened. Hell, I blamed the Cardassians for the state of Bajor until I found out that I was one of them, or at least half of me was"

Elijah nodded. "Don't worry Lieutenant, you are among friends here." He said with a smile. "Now get settled in and get to your Station, we have a Mission to attend to."

"Yes sir, I won't let you down" Satele said, standing up from her chair and walking out of the room
