Mission Summary
Disaster at Colony. Initially reported as Earthquake but on arrival show to be some form of attack. Colonies planetary defences are still intact but there is significant damage to housing and signs of fighting in the streets.
Medic, deals with a variety of wounds, but test results are confusing, showing unidentified chemistry in the bloods.
Counsellor starts to debrief the colonists only to find their reports are all different. Some say aliens (Gorn, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian), some say natural disaster like earthquake or fire, Other report civilians turning on each other.
Intel finds there is no log of any sort of disaster, or attack in any sensor sweep. Although there are logs of weapons Planetary defence weapons being fired there is no log of what they were fired at.
Diplomat talking with leaders find they are a contingent of political dissidents who have fled a neighbouring system. Their colony was just starting to get on it's feet with the discovery of a new mineral source for energy. Could it be a deliberate attack by their old home?
Security starts to find oddities in the damage caused. It is consistent with the orbital weaponry being fired on the houses. Also the fight pattern shows no organized attack, but scattered chaos, inconsistent with any sort of invasion.
Engineering is sent to check the new mine and while there one of the crew spots alien figures hurrying away. Another reports an equipment malfunction because his tricorder is not picking up the seismic activity that is happening (no one else is noticing any tremours).
They pull out and Science reveiws their scans. THey determine that the tunnels contain a psychotropic gas. Traces of the gas are found around the colony and in larger concentrations where the new building materials have been used, such as the weapons battery.
Medical develops a counter agent but it is very difficult and expensive to produce.
The colony appeals to Elijah for an industrial strength replicator, but the Prime directive forbids it.
